Publisher Description

Millions of fans agree with Romantic Times when it praises Cathy Maxwell for being an author "who understands the human heart and whose stories touch our souls." Her novels are filled with dashing, daring characters, yet their desires are universal. Brenn Owen, the new but impoverished Earl of Merton, is looking for a bride--one rich enough to finance his estate. When he meets Tess Hamlin, he sees a woman who is not only wealthy, but a dazzling beauty as well. To his surprise, Tess quickly accepts his proposal. But behind her eagerness lurks a secret she will do anything to hide from him. As the Earl and his bride begin their life together, their path is a passionate one, but far from smooth--haste must give way to patience and understanding. Virginia Leishman's narration heightens the drama of each colorful exchange between the lovers.

"Easy and fun to read. My own husband is Welsh, and I loved the descriptions of the countryside in which the most important parts of the story take place. My only complaint is that one of two bad guys in the tale did not get his comeuppance -- perhaps that will happen later in the series."

" A happy, sweet story, but two dimensional. No real challenges for the characters to overcome and the "he loves her but doesn't say it and she's too proud to ask for it" storyline is too overdone. "

" This book was so similar to The Beauty Bride by Claire Delcroix, it was uncanny. Down to the quick wedding, secrets being kept by both sides and the faery story. I would definitely be wary of one of them being a rip-off. An enjoyable story, but I read the Beauty Bride first and when I was reading this thought, "Didn't I just read this story?" "

" B&N offered this book on Free Friday a while back, and I've finally gotten around to reading it. It's a pretty standard romance, and there are no surprises, but the story is pleasant and makes for a decent pleasure read. If you're into regency romances with a bit of Welsh flair, you'll enjoy this. "
