Publisher Description

Late at night, the president rushes through the pounding rain to Marine One. His advisors plead with him not to fly, but he insists. He has arranged a meeting that only three people in his administration know about. In the midst of a brutal thunderstorm on the way to Camp David, Marine One crashes into a ravine, killing all aboard.

When the government blames the European manufacturer of the helicopter for killing the president, Mike Nolan, a Marine Corps Reserve helicopter pilot and trial attorney, is hired to defend the company. What begins as a criminal investigation soon becomes the highest-profile trial of the century, as the First Lady sues the company for wrongful death. To clear his client, Nolan must find out what really caused Marine One to crash, and why the president threw caution aside to go to a meeting no one seems to know about.

Marine One expertly mixes political intrigue with courtroom drama and fast-paced action.

Quotes

  • “Marine One has good lawyers, evil lawyers, a fascinating premise and an inside look at the down and dirty world of litigation where billions are at stake. Add in a dead president and shadowy assassins and you have a very good read.”

    — Phillip Margolin, author of Fugitive
  • “Bestseller Huston grabs the reader by the lapels with the opening sentence of the first chapter of this outstanding thriller…This is nonstop legal suspense at its best.”

    — Publishers Weekly (starred review)
  • “Equal parts thriller, mystery, and legal procedural, Huston’s sixth novel is a gripping and fast-paced read.”

    — Library Journal
  • “A mystery with political intrigue, courtroom drama, and international controversy. Huston is a solid storyteller and brings it all to bear.”

    — School LIbrary Journal
  • “Experienced stage, screen, television and voice over actor Joe Barrett’s performance is perfectly matched with the book. He uses an excellent variety of voices that suit the characters. His portrayal of the opposing lawyer, a condescending and evil person, is perfect. The drama is enhanced by perfect tempo and pacing, and the suspense never sags.”

" The President's helicopter crashes on his way to Camp David. The French company that built it has to prove it was not a defect but sabotage. The book is decent up to a point and I learned a lot about helicopters but the plot has enough holes to drive a truck through and the denouement was incomplete. "
