" This was a good book and the success of the Alex Cooper series owes a lot to the success of this initial one. Good story because Fairstein writes what she knows. "

" Another series I really enjoyed. Really good. She in real life was a DA for sex crimes in NYC. She reiminds me a little of Bones author!! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Ed Teja | 1/18/2014

" This could have been (should have been in my opinion) a quicker read, but the author really seemed to want to give a clear picture of the main character's daily grind. I could have done without some of the asides and extra characters that entailed. Having said that, it is a readable story and I found the writing engaging. She fleshed out characters and showed their human qualities well without losing the tension. Even the villain has engaging qualities, which is as it should be. "

" Language. this is a good series about a woman ADA who works for the rape unit in NYC. She finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation when her friend, a beautiful movie star, is found murdered at her summer home. And the plot gets more involved as she finds out her.... No, no spoiler notes from me! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Charmaine | 1/15/2014

" The banter & humor were the only things I liked. The narrative was boring & tedious, the plot predictable and there were a lot of detours that distracted from the story's flow. It's the author's first book so I suppose that is to be expected. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Marie | 12/2/2013

" When looking for novels set in New York City (preparing for our trip there), I discovered this writer--a former sex crimes prosecutor who writes books about the sex crimes unit in NYC. This is the precursor to "Law & Order: SVU" and her first novel. I will read more. "
