"This could have been (should have been in my opinion) a quicker read, but the author really seemed to want to give a clear picture of the main character's daily grind. I could have done without some of the asides and extra characters that entailed. Having said that, it is a readable story and I found the writing engaging. She fleshed out characters and showed their human qualities well without losing the tension. Even the villain has engaging qualities, which is as it should be."

“A memorable debut.”
— Publishers Weekly“Final Jeopardy has it in spades…engaging characters, an intelligent story full of twists, terrific tension.”
— Times (London)“From the mind of one who knows, this is life, raw, real, and mean. Linda Fairstein is so wonderful.”
— Patricia Cornwell“[A] thriller, which will keep readers asking questions and turning pages.”
— Library Journal" This was a good book and the success of the Alex Cooper series owes a lot to the success of this initial one. Good story because Fairstein writes what she knows. "

— Jane, 1/29/2014" Linda Fairstein novels are cool. She is one of the real life people that Law & Order SVU is based on as a real prosecuter in the Sex Crimes Division in New York! "
— Charmaine, 1/15/2014" Language. this is a good series about a woman ADA who works for the rape unit in NYC. She finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation when her friend, a beautiful movie star, is found murdered at her summer home. And the plot gets more involved as she finds out her.... No, no spoiler notes from me! "
— Carol, 1/15/2014" This is Linda Fairstein's first legal thriller that I've read from her. A great legal thriller for all legal thriller fans. "
— Kristen, 1/11/2014" The banter & humor were the only things I liked. The narrative was boring & tedious, the plot predictable and there were a lot of detours that distracted from the story's flow. It's the author's first book so I suppose that is to be expected. "
— Milla, 12/10/2013" When looking for novels set in New York City (preparing for our trip there), I discovered this writer--a former sex crimes prosecutor who writes books about the sex crimes unit in NYC. This is the precursor to "Law & Order: SVU" and her first novel. I will read more. "
— Marie, 12/2/2013" Just OK! I don't expect to rush right out and read more! "

— Patricia, 5/1/2011" Overall this was enjoyable, although there were many clues that hit readers on the head like anvils while the protagonist remained inexplicably oblivious. "
— Petula, 4/7/2011" First book written/published by Ms. Fairstein. I like her style so far. "

— Bill, 10/28/2010" Good insight into the District Attorney's Office. Not much of a great suspense writer, but thought it was a good crime read. I got into her writing style about 1/3 of the way in, and really enjoyed the book. "
