The only thing Jean Honeychurch hates more than her boring name (not Jean Marie, or Jeanette, just . . . Jean) is her all-too-appropriate nickname, Jinx. Misfortune seems to follow her everywhere she goes–which is why she’s thrilled to be moving in with her aunt and uncle in New York City. Maybe when she’s halfway across the country, Jinx can finally outrun her bad luck. Or at least escape the havoc she’s caused back in her small hometown. But trouble has definitely followed Jinx to New York. And it’s causing big problems for her cousin Tory, who is not happy to have the family black sheep around. Beautiful, glamorous Tory is hiding a dangerous secret–one that she’s sure Jinx is going to reveal. Jinx is beginning to realize it isn’t just bad luck she’s been running from. It’s something far more sinister . . . and the curse Jinx has lived under since the day she was born might just be the only thing that can save her life.

"I heart Meg Cabot. She is my guilty pleasure, I invariably have to read her books regardless of their age range. I could probably quote her writing style at this point; it is familiar and yet comforting in all her to books. Think lots of fragments and thoughts said out loud ;) This book? Cute, absolutely. She totally has a way of making my thirty something self giggle over the romantic lead. How, I don't know, but I suspect it has to do with her self-deprecating humor. I can relate to that :)"

" Quick, easy read. The characters were a lot of fun and the whole story was very well put together. Reminded me of the old(ish) movie The Craft. "
— Alison, 1/21/2014" Odds are good you'll be able to figure out exactly where the book is going to end up well before it gets there. Don't worry about it, the ride is still worth it. Even as you find yourself asking something, the moment you turn the page, the issue is addressed. I read it pretty much in one gulp and wished for more. "
— Marian, 1/18/2014" Exactly my kind of book! Loved it. "
— Nazan, 1/12/2014" Listened to the book on CD on a recent road trip. Very teeny-bopper but kept me entertained on the long drive. "
— Anjiebringhurst, 12/29/2013" This was another good Meg Cabot book, and perfect for reading around Halloween time. Jinx has had bad luck all her life, but it may have something to do with the family legend of witch powers being passed down through the generations. After a bad situation back home in Iowa, Jinx goes to NYC to live with her aunt and uncle and their family. She makes new friends (and enemies) and tries to figure out what is going on with her cousin that used to be her good friend. This was probably more like a 3 1/2. The end was surprisingly tense. "
— Brittany, 12/29/2013" cute book. i may get this for my best friends daughter. "
— Michelle, 12/29/2013" Awesome book, it was funny and romantic and crazy at the same time!! There was a villan a hero a hot guy and a problem!!! Haha Love the Book and The author!!! "
— Sarah-anne, 12/27/2013" Teen witches in New York. "
— Jennifer, 12/10/2013" OMG, how clueless can the heroine be? The story was good, but I just wanted the main character to get a clue. Enjoyable, light, beachy read with a really good narrator for the audiobook. And, unlike a lot of YA these days, a standalone book. "
— Kathy, 12/4/2013" Fast read being a teen chicklit type novel. It was good. I'd wager Cabot's on her way to another series. "
— Julia, 11/12/2013" Probably my favorite Meg Cabot thus far. "
— Eliza, 11/10/2013" MC's voice draws the reader into her world and doesn't let go. Very entertaining. "
— Manju, 8/31/2013" A very mistic tale, and different to Meg Cabots usual style. Really a good read. "
— Robyn, 6/29/2013" I liked it, but didn't love it. Meg Cabot's effort in dabbling in witchcraft was interesting, but the characters and storyline weren't as engaging/exciting as her other supernatural series'. "
— Kelaine, 5/14/2013" This book is definetly not what I expected. "
— Kim, 7/23/2012" Jinx by Meg Cabot was a vacation week read and I enjoyed the light fun of it. The plot was simple and a bit predictable, but that was just what I needed while lazing around by the pool on a hot tropical day. "
— Elia, 1/26/2012" Quite not so logical. It's drug problem that is quite real. "
— Yunisa, 11/20/2011" The story was fine... cute, fun, etc. I liked the main male character and the au pair quite a lot... it's just that the main character was so dumb sometimes. She made a few really ridiculous mistakes that really made you want to smack her... and really made the story feel a little more unrealistic. "
— Sara, 10/18/2011" I loved this book; I could not put it down. Meg Cabot is a great writer in my opinion and her stories never disapoint. Jinx is no exception to that. I was hooked. Perhaps it cast a spell on me. "
— Steph, 8/25/2011" I loved it her best stand alone book. "
— Nikkiemjinx, 6/29/2011" very weak! Childlike. I do not recommend! "
— Danielle, 6/2/2011" This book read like a short story. Read it in less than a day, fun book and glad it's not a series. Best part was it was a library book I downloaded to my Kindle. "
— Dana, 5/30/2011" it was great I loved the end it was a great story "
— Amy, 5/23/2011" YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK! A huge disappointment Meg Cabot. "
— Laila, 5/20/2011" It was an OK YA read. Not a lot of meat but it was kind of fun. New York could have been explored a lot more as well as the bookstore she went to a couple times. "
— April, 5/14/2011" This is a really great book to read if youre bored. I love Meg Cabots books and this one is probably my favorite from hers. I read this and I couldn't peel my eyes off of it. "
— Bridget, 5/12/2011" Finally! A fiction book towards Wicca! "
— Alexei, 5/4/2011" very very very well written "
— Sabrina, 5/1/2011" nice!!! though gets a bit boring and long in between..overall a good story...:) "
— Romita05, 4/30/2011" Meg Cabot has been one of my favorite authors and she always has been! Jinx is probably my favorite book written by her! Very Unique Story! "
— Juweria, 4/29/2011" Not Cabot's best book, but I really liked how she sought to correct misconceptions about Wicca. "
— Jinnie, 4/11/2011" it was very good i loved it "
— Jesla, 4/5/2011" Super quick, fun read. I wanted to like it more than I did, but since I spent a good portion of the book wanting to smack the main character, it just couldn't be done. Luckily, I liked her more at the end. I also wished that the witch part had been more developed. Still, it was enjoyable. "
— Meredith, 4/4/2011" This is like your usual teen books, nothing deep, nothing special, just about some witch with stalker. "
