Wild and restless, Kyle Donovan has freed himself from the constraints of his family's high-powered gem-trading empire to rove the world as a treasure hunter. Now the president of Donovan International has given Kyle an assignment with explosive ramifications. A casehe must take.
When one of China's legendary cultural treasures isstolen, Lianne Blakely, a mysterious and beautiful jade expert, is accused of the theft. Its Kyle's job to get to the bottom of what could be a potential disaster for the Donovans as well as Lianne.
But Kyle finds himself irresistibly drawn to the exotic beauty and captivated by her fierce claim of innocence. Soon they are in dangerous pursuit of the real thief, drawn deeper into the perils of spiraling power plays, and linked by a passion as powerful as the lore of the ancient culture and as enduring as the splendor of the treasured jade.

“Hot love scenes, relentless suspense, and appearances by the noisy and affectionate Donovan clan keep the reader entertained.”
— Amazon.com, editorial review“The Donovan family saga continues in spectacular fashion with Jade Island. Clear your calendar, you will want time to savor every word.”
— RT Book Reviews“Fast-paced and frankly sensual, this romance is peopled with intelligent, larger-than-life, yet appealing protagonists and a fascinating, well-plotted story that beautifully conveys the legendary mystique and appeal of jade as well as providing an insightful portrait of the overt and subtle differences between Eastern and Western cultures…Lowell’s many fans will be waiting.”
— Library Journal“[A] delicious tale of romantic suspense…Lianne is a marvelous heroine. An authority on ancient jade, she is quick witted, ambitious, bilingual, vulnerable in all the right ways, and, in spite of her petiteness, able to acquit herself admirably in physical confrontations. And Kyle, an ideal romantic adventure hero, is her match on all fronts.”
— Booklist" This sequel is defintely better than the original mostly because stuff actually happens. The story and the background are great. The reader learns about the detailed relationships within Chinese society and they actually learn about the stone that is in the title. Lianne's relationship with the Chinese part of her family may seem odd to American readers, but it pays off in the end. The Donovan family comes off looking better than they did in Amber Beach, although I have to admit that the chemistry betwen Lianne and Kyle was a little lacking. References are made to the first book, but you don't need to have read the first one to understand this one. "
— Drucilla, 2/11/2014" Loved it! Just loved it! Little slow to begin with, there is just so much detail! "
— Julia, 2/8/2014" i accidentally read the third book of this four book series first. now i feel like i need to read the third one (pearl cove) again now that i know the back story and other characters better. i now check to make sure i am reading books in the order the author intended. lol "
— Paige, 2/8/2014" This book is very typical of Elizabeth Lowell's Donovan family books - a young woman in need of protection, a Donovan family male (in this case Kyle) who signs on to protect her and prove her innocence, a lot of steamy bedroom scenes, and a lesson in Chinese jewels (in this case jade). This will be the last Lowell book I will read for a while as they have all become way too predictable. "
— Linda, 2/4/2014" Great action packed story. Another Donovan brother everyone wants to know. "
— Joan, 1/29/2014" This book was much better than book one. It had a good plot, good characters, the story flowed, she did not feel like she had to pound a particular point into page after page, however right when the romance starts flowing in this book and her last book she makes the woman get this attitude that it's over before it started. Hopefully she loses that in book three. Not a bad read. "
— Artha, 1/29/2014" 3.5 stars #2 in the Donovan Consulting series and I really liked it but there are a couple of things that kept it from being 4 stars. Lianne is the illegitimate daughter of a Chinese/American businessman and has never been acknowledged. She is a jade expert and hopes to win acceptance from his family through assisting them with jade trades with another company. Little does she know that she has been targeted to be the fall guy in an international conspiracy involving China and a centuries old jade death suit. Kyle Donovan is the younger brother in the Donovan family and is asked to get to know Lianne in order to find out where Lianne stands in the jade controversy. This is pretty predictable romantic suspense plot line, but Elizabeth Lowell handles it well. As in the previous story, there is more information on jade than anyone could possible want to know, and this drags the story down somewhat. I appreciate the peek into Chinese culture, the suspense is decent and the romance fun. "
— Leslie, 1/20/2014" A great mix of romance and suspense. The only thing I would have to say negative would be that I learned way more about Jade than I wanted to and felt was necessary for the story. "
— Jane, 1/19/2014" Another in this series, which I enjoyed. I really like the information on Jade. I do enjoy reading about the character that I have read about in other books. "
