"I don't remember what other Tess Gerritsen book I read several years ago, but I was not overly impressed and had not read anything else by her since. I checked out this audiobook from the public library to listen to in the truck, and was surprised how interested I became in it. It features full character-development, interesting plotline, and natural dialogue."

" Tess Gerritsen write the Rizzoli and Isles books, so I thought this stand-alone would be good. It was very good. Tess writes well, keeps you guessing, and knows how to pack a punch at the end. "
— Phillis, 2/18/2014" I have read so many of her books, but this is her first and Tess draws you into the story from the first page to the last. "
— Ruth, 2/18/2014" A fast read type of book. Not really what I enjoy but a nice break. A thriller mystery with a strong romance angle! "
— Veronica, 2/13/2014" Read this as an ebook on my subway commute and it was just right for that purpose. Not so thrilling that I became engrossed and missed my stop but entertaining enough that I looked forward to reading a few bits every day. As the author and several reviewers noted, this book is the crossover point from the author writing romance novels (under a different name) and her more popular medical thrillers, and it's evident that she is transitioning when reading it. As a stand alone light read its enjoyable but fans of Rizzoli and Isles may be disappointed. "
— Amy, 1/28/2014" This is one of her earlier books republished but still a good read. "
— Pauline, 1/13/2014" Whilst Kev is driving to Chicago i have downloaded this audio and i am listening to the book on my nook, this is a pretty good way to read the book, hehehe ! "
— Sheri, 12/30/2013" A good story. Like the mixture of Thriller, medical, with a touch of romance. "
— Michaela, 12/30/2013" This was the first Tess Gerritsen novel I have read and I really enjoyed it. Much gentler than the usual type of crime thriller I usually read and it contained more "romance" but still very good. I liked the pace and read the whole thing in two sittings. The writing quality was excellent. "
— Chris, 12/23/2013" Loved the latest addition as it gives an insight into the suthor as this was her first crime novel. "
— Caz, 12/19/2013" Good book! I will continue to read more by her. "
— Jenny, 12/14/2013" I enjoyed this light read. It had mystery, romance, and suspense. "
— Lisa, 12/11/2013" Too much romance to be a good mystery and too much mystery to be a good romance. Not crazy about the narrator either. "
— Jean, 7/6/2013" This book is Tess Gerritsen's first attempt at thriller writing having previously written romance novels. A good starting point but not in the same league as her subsequent standalone thrillers and the even more enjoyable Rizzoli/Isles series. "
— David, 6/11/2013" Another early crime/romance that certainly was not very comparable to the author's later writings. "
— Academicsupport, 5/18/2013" Good book. If you like crime mysteries, this one will not disappoint you. "
— Twila, 1/27/2013" A good crime read. This author always writes good crime books. "
— Amanda, 12/16/2012" Not the best of Tess Gerritsen books, but a good read. "
— Reinhold, 10/10/2012" I enjoyed the mixture of the two genres - romance and thriller. Definitely worth a read. "
— Noreen, 6/7/2012" It was ok. At first it was interesting then it just kinda flattened out and the story got predictable and more of a romance thing. not bad but from great. Like some of Tess's later novels much better. "
— Monkey, 4/25/2012" Pretty good a quick read but nothing outstanding. "
— Emma, 3/30/2012" Gave up. Just boring. I'll stick to series. "
— Yas, 3/5/2012" I am still unsure as to wether or not I enjoyed this book. When I read other reviews of the book I thought I was purchasing a upbeat crime thriller with plenty of murders around each corner. In reality the book swayed towards being a conspiracy thriller with a anticlimactic ending. "
— Jade, 2/16/2012" Book #38 read in 2010 "
— Melissa, 11/19/2011" Not as good as her later books or as bad as her earlier ones. "
— Jody, 8/8/2011" Another medical thriller, but unfortunately without my favorite leads (Dr. Isles and Rizzoli). Still, it was a good read. But the title was very deceptive. Peggy Sue didnot have much to do with the story line, except for appearing in the beginning and end. Still I would recommend this to TG fans. "
— Smitha, 4/19/2011" I love Tess Gerritsen. This was good but not as good as her later ones, wont stop me reading anymore of the earlier ones though. "
— Lisa, 4/7/2011" Major case of who done it!! "
— April, 3/10/2011" Read if you're a die-hard Gerritsen fan; otherwise, skip to her newer work, which is much, much better. "
— Becky, 2/26/2011" One can def. tell this is one of Tess' first novels. It is good, but it is not the caliber of TG work that you see in the Rizzoli/Isles works..I will probably get out of this book 3.5/5 "
— Naomi, 1/28/2011" When medical examiner Kat Novak starts to see a trend of overdoses on a new and deadly drug she starts pushing for an investigation that could be deadly for her. As always I enjoy Tess Gerritsen's writing style and give this stand alone ????;s. "
— Sheila, 1/24/2011" This was one of Tess Gerritisen's early works into the mystery realm. The plot was pretty good until the end where it just aburptly ended. I thought the plot was interesting with drug angle and the inner city angle. Nice start. "
— Jill, 1/19/2011" Due to my own personal history I have found the main character compelling. "
— Kinga, 1/5/2011" Got halfway through and the pace never picked up. Not even Sue Ericksen could help this one. Boring... "
— Antoinette, 12/13/2010" Not quite as good as the Jane Rizzoli series but still really enjoyable.
"
— David, 10/21/2010" the change in her style of wrighting certainly was the start of her new genre' "
