In this rich, complex and gripping tale, Kinsey Millhone's grit is tested to its utmost as the private detective unearths the gruesome truth about a long-buried betrayal--and, in the process, comes face-to-face with the grisly fact of her own mortality. "Another excellent addition to this series. Kinsey is strong and determind as usual, but it's interesting to see her get along with the simiar-minded body-guard Dietz - some great clashes along the way there! Also good to see that Kinsey is only human - she ends up with some real, long-lasting physical injuries, and rather than a fake, I-laugh-in-the-face-of-danger attitude, you get some real, believable descriptions of her reactions to the multiple threats on her life. And a great, intruiging mystery to top it all off!"

" 7 down... easy read, entertaining enoug "
— Liz, 2/19/2014" It's been a long time since I've read a Kinsey Millhone novel, and I'd forgotten how well written they are. In this installment, Kinsey accepts a job helping a woman find her mother, and when the mother is killed, the mystery deepens. Also, just to complicate things, while she's working on this mystery a hit man is trying to kill her, and in the midst of all this she falls for her bodyguard. I'm looking forward to "H' is for Homicide; the next in the series. "
— Jane, 2/6/2014" I like reading these books on my phone, they are easy to read sporadically. I am not sure if it was necessary to introduce Kinsey's long lost family, unless they continue to show up and eventually defrost Kinsey "
— Tara, 2/3/2014" I think that Sue Grafton is a very talented writer. This book in particular demonstrates her talents at wordsmithery. Also, I thought that the story line was especially excellent in "G." "
— Marie, 1/30/2014" This was a great mystery. Kinsey is asked to find a elderly mother of a neurotic client. Kinsey also finds out she is being hunted my a psycho hitman. She meets new boyfriend Dietz, a private eye who has been asked to play bodyguard. They work great together: she does what she wants and he mans in out. He's not the best bodyguard in the world because I could figure out how he kept following Kinsey. There is a little too much filler, but I liked the way the story of the mother unfolded. "
— Amy, 1/27/2014" Another good installment in the Kinsey Millhone series. The mystery in this one was better than most of the others I have read. It was intriguing reading on to see the two mysteries merge in Kinsey's life. The ending was a tad predictable, but it was still worth reading just for fun's sake. "
— Jaret, 1/8/2014" The solution was a bit vague otherwise great. Loved Kinsey/dietz interactions "
— Julie_ian_curtis, 1/7/2014" I love this series!!!! Kinsey Milhone is awesome. "
— Tanya, 1/6/2014" A re-read. Probably my favorite in this long series. "
— Kelly, 1/5/2014" Kinsey as always rocks, but sometimes it gets too cliche-ish near the end where Kinsey gets napped and taken by force to an airport and the heroic rescuer/studly boyfriend is made to toss the gun away. Sound familiar? "
