Publisher Description

Bobby Callahan was only 20 when an accident left him disfigured for life. The doctors patched up his body but they couldn't fix his mind. Huge chunks of his memory were lost but he knew someone had tried to kill him and that the "accident" was deliberate. He knew he had the key to something that made him dangerous to the murderer but he didn't know what. No one believed him... so he hired Kinsey Millhone. Three days later Bobby was dead. But Kinsey never welshed on a deal. She'd been hired to stop a killing, now she'd find the killer instead.

"The author does a good job at getting you to feel like you are in the room during some of her action scenes. I'm not quite used to her ability to create so much action within such a short time span."

" I like the basic stories by Sue Grafton, but she is too long on description of meaningless stuff. You can skip ahead several paragraphs and still not miss anything of the story, but you know EXACTLY the weather, or what they're wearing etc. She has a whole series of the "Alphabet Murders." Starting with "A" is for Alibi and so on. It may take a long time to get through all of them. They are definately not at the top of my read list. "

" My first Sue Grafton book and I have to say I was not overly impressed. I read it in about two days but it was a very typical mystery book - no major plot twists, not hard to figure out. I think I would have to give her another go before writing her off completely - her A,B,C, etc. books seem to be so popular. But if there are all like this one, I won't be a Sue Grafton follower. "
