If these three sisters don't change direction, they'll end up where they're going. Darlene Caldwell has spent a lifetime tending Sycamores, an estate located five miles south of a small town called Peculiar. She raised a family in the spacious home that was her grandfather's legacy, and she enjoys being a pillar of the community. Sycamores is the kingdom where she reigns as queen . . . until her limelight-stealing twin sister unexpectedly returns. Carlene Caldwell, veteran of the Broadway stage, is devastated when she realizes that an unsuccessful throat surgery has spelled the end of her musical career. Searching for a new purpose in life, she retreats to Sycamores, her childhood home. She may not be able to sing, but she hopes to use her knowledge and experience to fashion a new life in Peculiar, the little town she left behind. Haunted by a tragic romance, Magnolia Caldwell is the youngest of the Caldwell girls. Nolie has never wanted to live anywhere but Sycamores. She spends her days caring for her dogs and the magnificent gardens she's created on the estate, but when she meets a man haunted by his own tragedy, she must find the courage to either deny her heart or cut the apron strings that tie her to a dear and familiar place. Can these sisters discover who they are meant to be when life takes an unforeseen detour? In a season of destiny, three unique women reunite and take unexpected journeys of the heart.

"This book was just a last minute find at the library. I liked the title a lot and I thought the description sounded okay. It turned out to be be a really good, satisfying story."
— Bridget (4 out of 5 stars)
“Hunt has penned another winner with this down-home novel…Themes of family and following God’s lead in life make this book shine.”
— RT Book Reviews (4 stars)“Hunt bakes up a southern confection of a novel…Hunt writes with crisp confidence.”
— Publishers Weekly“As each sister navigates the unknown rapids of her own life, she finds herself bouncing up against the others, resulting in revelations and conversations that ultimately underscore the bonds that create family and make a true home…This small-town southern story has a big heart and refreshing characters.”
— Booklist" I loved the characters in this book so much and was sorry to say goodbye to them when the book was done. "
— Robin, 2/20/2014" Found the writing style uneven: was confusing at times who was talking, sometimes characters thoughts had a southern accent (which was a little strange in itself) but it was not even consistent. Would have made more sense to just keep the accent only in the dialogue. Also, main characters Darlene and Carlene were both fairly unlikeable, in my opinion. Not very nice to each other throughout their lives and yet is all works out so nicely in the end in a way that seemed abrupt. "
— Laura, 2/3/2014" Slow start but picked up speed then you are caught up in the different characters and their lives. Enjoyable but not very " deep". "
— Susi, 1/12/2014" It was a decent summer read but the ending was predictible. It was enjoyable, relaxing to read. "
— Shannon, 1/4/2014" Not a fast-paced book, but ultimately an enjoyable story about three sisters--twins whose sibling baggage reaches pretty epic proportions, and a younger sister a little too Emily Dickinson after being left at the altar. "
— Kathleen, 12/10/2013" I didn't really care for this book. It started out as a sweet little novel that I thought would be fun to read, but oh it DRAGGED on. I was so glad to get to the end so I could be done with it. Whiny, selfish characters that I lost all interest in and really didn't care about. "
— Gregandemy, 9/23/2013" This is an average read about a Southern family with all of its eccentricities. "
— Connie, 6/15/2013" 3.5 stars. Angela Hunt's books are a delight to read. As one of three sisters I could relate to Darlene. Carlene and Magnolia. It's a story about forgivness and reconection. "
— Margaret, 4/26/2013" I smiled most of the time while listening to this book (audio book). Kind of wish there was a sequel so we could find out what happened next to the characters! "
— Myla, 1/16/2013" Interesting book, but not riveting. "
— Charity, 11/6/2012" I love Angela Hunt. I really liked the characters in this book...I just wasn't into the story line. Sorry, Angela :( I still love you though and will read as many of your other books as I can! "
