— AudioFile" I enjoyed this book throughout the beginning and middle sections, it lost me towards the end, when the religion was hyped up to max volume with no real reason or purpose. I too, was fooled by the cover, expecting a modern romance, but was happy with this actually being a historical romance, and the way Syd conducted herself. I wish her charade had gone on a little longer, and that things were not so speedily wrapped up. I would've liked to see Hume kidnap her or fight harder to get her ( I mean he just dished out tons of money/ searched for her for months). The end was just unrealistic and didn't have enough action. I wish the novel could've kept up its forward momentum, but lagged greatly towards the end. Overall, it was decent and I might try another by this author, just wish a few things had been omitted. "
— Amanda, 2/20/2014" Really funny, sweet, charming. Albeit, a bit unbelievable that a 20 something girl could really and truly pass for a teenage boy, however it made the story line funny. Its a light read, probably good to pick up before a long vacation trip. "
— Kelli, 2/19/2014" I don't like to rate books this low usually, but this one wasn't as good as it could have been. The situation was rather improbable, and the storyline was a little confusing. I know there are some people who would love it, so I guess you'll have to see for yourself! "
— Susan, 2/13/2014" Christian fiction. Not difficult reading. Feel good book, perfect if you just want to kick back and read without much thinking. "
— Marianne, 2/1/2014" While this one doesn't match up to her first two novels, it's still a good read. She does a great job with the characters, and an awesome job with adding humor into the novel. If you are looking for another good story from Cathy Marie Hake, Fancy Pants is the one. "
— Holly, 2/1/2014" This book had potential, but I felt like it fell short. It is a little slow at first, but then it picks up and becomes interesting and funny. Sadly, the ending is very abrupt and a let down. So I am mixed on this book. It is a cute story worth reading, but don't expect a page turning, finish in 1 day read. "
— Lindsey, 1/17/2014" As far as Christian romances go, this was really cute. I liked the idea of her masquerading as a boy on a ranch. It was funny who figured it out and who didn't. Although it got a little too religious in parts, it still was a fun little read. "
— Anneliese, 1/11/2014" One of those books that are ridiculous and not at all like real life but fun to read nonetheless. "
— Laurie, 12/28/2013" enjoyed the book until the ending - too short "
— Karen, 12/23/2013" I always love a good historical fiction where a girl tries to pass herself off as a boy. Sydney does a great job, acting the part and holding her own. Although predictable it was a very entertaining, romantic, and inspirational tale. "
— April, 12/17/2013" Couldn't put it down! Cute, clean, romantic, great stuff! "
— Kristen, 11/9/2013" This was a very slow moving book. It took me awhile to get through. "
— Denise, 10/26/2013" Can someone explain why Hake tends to have characters change personalities in the middle of her books? I read her books as something to read that's easy - lack of sleep due to a new baby means I'm not exactly reading Dickens, but man that drove me nuts. No more for me, thank you. "
— Jenny, 9/9/2013" I love all of Cathy's books and this is the one that started me off "
— Helen, 7/9/2013" A cute, quick read with romance. Overall it was a sweet book. "
— Sarah, 5/20/2013" Fun little Christian romance. Same old Twelfth Night storyline where she dresses as a man because of extenuating circumstances...I have to say that any man that cannot tell a woman from a boy is blind, huh? I love happy endings. -e "
— Erica, 3/4/2013" This was quite entertaining and kept me laughing. It was predictable but still worth it. The ending wasn't quite clear, however. "
— Leanne, 1/3/2012" This was a superb book. I loved the spunky heroine and the "mean" but well meaning hero. This is a Christian romance but is not preachy or "in your face" and I liked that the message was delivered in a way that fit the story. "
— Sherri, 9/17/2011" I absolutely loved this book!!!! and there were many times when I laughed out loud reading it... a great read "
— Megan, 8/9/2011" Absolutely, tee-totally HILARIOUS! A must-read. "
— Lacey, 4/11/2011" a friend recommended this book to me..we shall see startin out a tiny bit slow but we shall see... "
— Jessica, 3/6/2011" I had a hard time putting this one down. I haven't read anything by Hake that I didn't like. "
— Kati, 8/9/2010" I would probably give this a 3.5, it was a basic, easy read, but I found it pretty entertaining. It has a simple romance and a "wild west" element to it that was fun. If you are looking for a no brainer beach type read, this one is perfect. "
— Kim, 7/12/2010" A fun, quick read. I needed something light to read over the break and this was perfect! "
— Kristii, 1/1/2010" It is a simple fun read that makes you smile. A light and funny romantic story. "
— Shelly, 7/21/2009" I liked this sweet love story. Sydney is a loveable, spunky heroine, characterized by human traits. Good, but only if you don't mind romance. :) "
— Carrie, 4/22/2009" My favorite from Hake. Light hearted enjoyable read. "
— Anne, 4/11/2009" I enjoyed this book very much. I'm beginning to really like Christian Fiction. It seems even when I don't mean to I've been grabbing Christian Lit. It was a good read. Not my favorite, but good. "
