" I enjoyed this book throughout the beginning and middle sections, it lost me towards the end, when the religion was hyped up to max volume with no real reason or purpose. I too, was fooled by the cover, expecting a modern romance, but was happy with this actually being a historical romance, and the way Syd conducted herself. I wish her charade had gone on a little longer, and that things were not so speedily wrapped up. I would've liked to see Hume kidnap her or fight harder to get her ( I mean he just dished out tons of money/ searched for her for months). The end was just unrealistic and didn't have enough action. I wish the novel could've kept up its forward momentum, but lagged greatly towards the end. Overall, it was decent and I might try another by this author, just wish a few things had been omitted. "
