"I didn't realize this was the 2nd book in a series and that I already read the first one, Letter Perfect. I thought it would just be a fun read and it was. There was a major plot twist that I definitely didn't see coming and I wasn't sure how the author was going to wrap it all up. I thought it turned out ok. Bitterseet did turn out to be a fun read. I'm not sure if it is up there on my "have to read again list." Ooh- that's a thought- make a list of books I just have to read again and again!"

" Cute storyline "
— Jennifer, 2/16/2014" If there are two things in this world that I normally like, it's romance and some historical fiction. When you put them together, it's almost always a win-win in my mind. But, things just didn't seem to quite come together for me in this book. I thought the character development and plot were rushed in some parts (how do you go from thinking someone is "pesky" to loving her in a matter of a day?), but in other parts it was too slow. All in all, just....no. I think all the elements for a good story was there, but the execution was so-so. "
— Erin, 1/26/2014" Just okay. Seemed like the author got stuck working the story around the doctrine she was trying to get across, rather than writing a story that had a Christian based theme to it. A little too heavy on the doctrine and too light on the story for a novel to me. Clean storyline, but not my favorite book. "
— Dawn, 1/23/2014" I know this book is probably really good but the deception and munipulation that played out I was having a hard time with, so I put it down. "
— Kim, 1/5/2014" At first I wasn't really liking this book very well and thought about putting it back on the shelf. But then the book took some very interesting turns and wasn't near as predictable as I was afraid it would be. It ended up being a pretty good book. "
— Karen, 1/1/2014" Bittersweet seemed to drag on a little, but still a good book with an amazing ending. Great storyline! :) "
— Mary, 12/22/2013" Although this book comes around in the end....I felt a riot of emotions from happy, sad, mad, irritated etc. One of the best by Hake so far. "
— Sherri, 12/5/2013" I really enjoyed this book because I didn't think things would work out and they did through some wonderful twists and turns without me having to feel bad for the characters. "
— Starla, 11/23/2013" Another Christian fiction, of course it's historical romance (isn't that all there is in this genre????). That being said, it was a fine, enjoyable read, with characters I cared about. The only thing that sort of irked me here was the ridiculously tidy ending. I mean, really. It was too neat. "
— Carrie, 11/18/2013" I couldn't even finish the first book I read by this author, so I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this one. The writing (editing, perhaps) was much better and the story flowed a lot better. "
— Michelle, 11/14/2013" Listened to it on CD. The ending sure surprised me. "

— Rebecca, 11/13/2012" At first I wasn't sure that I would like this book because I got so very angry; however, I pressed on and learned that in order to get where we are supposed to be in life, we must give up everything including our hopes and dreams to God. He knows what is best, and we must turn our lives over to Him. "
— Diane, 9/9/2012" I was angry for most of the book. However, I was happy with the ending, but I shouldn't ever be happy that someone died. I'm kind of happy to be done with Cathy Marie Hake books. "
— Alexia, 7/28/2012" Was not as good as "Letter Perfect" But still, very good "
— Abby, 7/12/2012" I really enjoyed this book, it had me confused at times....but loved the characters! This was a nice Christian book but was funny and entertaining. I just ordered another of Cathy Marie Hake's books because I enjoyed this one so much! "

— M, 6/18/2011" not as good as the 1st book. "
— Marci, 5/28/2011" Bittersweet seemed to drag on a little, but still a good book with an amazing ending. "
— Victoria, 5/21/2011" This is one of those books where you love the morals and themes, but struggle in the middle of the novel when all the chaos is in control until the denouement and everything comes together correctly in the end. "
— Melanie, 4/19/2011" This was better than the first of the series. I thought the beginning was slow, but once I got into it it was uplifing. It made me want to be a better person. "

— Haley, 8/5/2010" At first I wasn't really liking this book very well and thought about putting it back on the shelf. But then the book took some very interesting turns and wasn't near as predictable as I was afraid it would be. It ended up being a pretty good book. "
— Karen, 7/21/2010" not as good as the 1st book. "
— Marci, 4/11/2010" The title definitely fits the story, there are lots of twists and turns that keep the reader guessing what will happen next. I really liked this book and I was happy with the ending, this book was just as good as the first one! "
