When Matt closed Raven's Gate, an ancient portal to the world of evil, he thought the trouble was over. But sinister forces are still hot on Matt's trail and will stop at nothing to destroy him. "Evil star was a great book. The Alex rider series was getting a little Repetitive with the 2'nd book, but evil star was a completely new adventure compared to Ravens Gate.In Evil Star Matt must go to Peru to find the second gate. At Peru Matt was supposed to meet MR.Fabian at a hotel, on the way there Matt and Richard are ambushed, Richard is captured, but Matt escapes.Alone wandering the streets of Peru Matt falls asleep, he is awoken by a kid who has stolen his watch, his name is Pedro.Matt doesn't know it yet but Pedro is one of the five. Once Matt makes it to the hotel he is again ambushed, this time by the Peru police officers. While Matt is getting beat up Pedro saves him with his slingshot. They both run away.Matt then goes into hiding with Pedro and once they are discovered and on the run strange people help them. At one point a man leads them into a secret passageway and they are lead to a secret Incan kingdom, where they find Richard, It turns out the Incans are good, and that Pedro is they're long lost king! The Incans take Matt and Pedro to the Nazca desert where they think the 2'nd gate is.One of the Incas friends helps them discover the drawings on the Nazca desert are the gates. Deigo Salamanda a South American multimillionar is trying to open the gate. At the end on they're way to stop Diego the helicopter crashes, Pedro is unable to go on. Matt then goes on and kills Slamanda. The gate opens before Matt can do anything but he drains all of his power and all the monsters are weakened to the point that they must go into hiding. Evel star was awesome and exiting, I can't wait until the next book."

" I liked this more than Raven's Gate - the additional South American ancient mystery stuff was very interesting. Again, I think it was a little too intense for my 10-year-old, but it was a compelling read and I was anxious for the next book when I finished. "
