Carolyn Mackler's Printz Honor book--starring the unforgettably funny, body-conscious Virginia Shreves--returns in this 15th anniversary edition featuring text updates and never-before-seen material from the author. Fifteen-year-old Virginia feels like a plus-sized black sheep in her family, especially next to her perfect big brother Byron. Not to mention her best friend has moved, leaving Virginia to navigate an awkward relationship with a boy alone. He might like her now . . . but she has her doubts about how he'll react if he ever looks under all her layers of clothes. In order to survive, Virginia decides to follow a "Fat Girl Code of Conduct," which works, until the unthinkable causes her family's facade to crumble. As her world spins out of orbit, she realizes that being true to herself might be the only way back. Told in a perfect blend of humor and heart, this acclaimed Printz Honor winner resonates as much today as it did when it first published, and now features a new author foreword, text updates, and other bonus content.

"I read this book this term and I really liked it! It really shows you that you don't need to care what anyone but you thinks. You should be the only person that you should try to impress and if someone doesn't like you because you are you it means you should let them go. I learned alot about being yourself no matter what. I think it's a good lesson and a good book for any teenage girl."

— Emma, 2/3/2014" funny in most parts, coz i could relate. "
— Priyanka, 1/27/2014" Great book for a teenager with confidence issues!! I didn't know it was a book for teens...but I read it and loved it!!! "
— Leigh, 1/21/2014" a great story about loving yourself just the way you are. I didn't love all the sex references though. "
— Brianon, 1/4/2014" This book was really good. Virginia changes throughout book, and I respect that. She changes for good reasons through the book and learns a few new things about the people around her. "
— ♥, 1/3/2014" An "issue" book which is too simplistic and life lessons-ridden to be enjoyed at my advanced age. I want something that can surprise me. And Printz Honor? And on the top of the banned books list? WHY? Is this about those second base scenes? Or there is more to come? "
— Tatiana, 11/27/2013" Very typical, but a decent enough read if you're hard-pressed for anything better. "
— Sally, 11/20/2013" Really amazing book but ending is kind of unsatisfying but cute. "
— Amodhya, 11/9/2013" I liked this book, very dramatic and so many adventures take place in the book:) "
— Elisa, 9/21/2013" Loved it. Awesome, learned to just be yourself no matter what "
— Anna, 9/1/2013" Quietly optimistic, unabashedly honest, but a little quick to end. "
— Sarah, 3/1/2013" I had to read this when I saw the title. Didn't know it was YA when I downloaded it, but I enjoyed it anyway. Very relatable. "
— Jill, 1/5/2013" Great fun! A wonderful coming of age story! "
— Lesley, 12/20/2012" this book is extremely quud i read iht in dhee 6th qrade nd luvved iht..! "
— &nd, 8/8/2012" I really didn't want this book to end. I love Virginia and Froggy so much. Ugh, if you haven't read this book, YOU NEED TOO. "
— Jordaline, 7/5/2012" I loved this book!! The best!! An absolute read again!! "
— Nina, 3/12/2012" I loved this book! It really sends a great message to girls! "
— Traci, 2/21/2012" Virginia is the odd man out and has severe low self esteem about her weight. Discovers who she really is through the course of this book. I thought it was fabulous. Easy to read and waaaaaay too close to home for comfort. I give this book an A. "
— Rene, 1/8/2012" I loved this book until the end. The changes were so dramatic and out of place and didn't make sense with the given information. But I loved it nonetheless. "
— Lily, 1/2/2012" This is one of my favorites because again, I related to the main character so well. She was this smart girl who had more to love on her body. I recommend this book to girls who are a bit curvy and for those who actually would like to step inside the mind of a not so thin girl. "
— Raina, 12/28/2011" I learned that you should always feel confident in your self "
— Lakyra, 8/3/2011" I've heard so many great things about this book despite the title so i decided to try it out. At first reading this i wanted to put it down and puke, but then it spiked and became amazing. I loved it at once and understood why it was so acclaimed and won an award. "
— Anna, 6/28/2011" So, I liked this book 3/4 of the way and then I gave up and skipped to the end. I liked that the main character felt very real, and I liked the amount of self-loathing up until a point, and then it became whiny with a sudden quick fix in the end. "
— Magenta, 6/26/2011" I didn't like the ending. But the book was funny and I ended up really liking Virginia. At first she was really depressed and thought her family was perfect. But her family was not perfect and she realized that. "
— Maddie14, 6/26/2011" Cute. Read a couple of years ago, recommended a bunch of times to teen girls on the fringe. "
— Heather, 6/15/2011" Young adult. Great read for young adults, especially those concerned with weight. "
— Linda, 6/8/2011" Usually I like the books written by Carolyn Mackler but I was a bit desapointed with this one. I tought it was kinda boring and not a lot of things were going on. I also think that I didn't enjoy this book because the main characters were too young. "
— Nadine, 6/6/2011" i like this book so far.. i hope it gets better as i am readin "
— Sara, 6/6/2011" I really liked this book as it tackles all different issues. But a few months after I read it, I was thinking and couldnt come up with the name of it and finally I just decide to google names from the book and found it. But I liked this book! "
— Maya, 6/3/2011" I would recommend this book to any young woman I know. It dealt with more adult issues than I expected, and handled it all beautifully. "
— Sarah, 5/31/2011" So hysterical! Every teenage girl must read!<br/> "
