"On a perfectly ordinary day, Stephane Gerson's eight-year-old son Owen drowned in a spot known as Disaster Falls in Utah's Green River. Because they were on a rafting trip, they were forced to spend another night with their older son, Julian before being able to return to their home, which they spent contemplating life without Owen. Disaster Falls is the result of the family sharing the different ways of grieving that threatened to isolate them from one another after the loss of Owen. Blending his telling of the death of his father with the natural historical significance of the river, Gerson provides a moving memoir of grief, loss and restoration. "

Keenly observed and deeply felt, this book is not only a powerful reflection on grief and loss, but also an intimately textured history of fathers and sons.
