Agatha Christie’s beloved classic The A.B.C. Murders sets Hercule Poirot on the trail of a serial killer.
There’s a serial killer on the loose, working his way through the alphabet and the whole country is in a state of panic.
A is for Mrs. Ascher in Andover, B is for Betty Barnard in Bexhill, C is for Sir Carmichael Clarke in Churston. With each murder, the killer is getting more confident—but leaving a trail of deliberate clues to taunt the proud Hercule Poirot might just prove to be the first, and fatal, mistake.

"This is my fourth Agatha Christie book, and trying to figure out the crime-mystery was really challenging. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good mystery novel to curl up with. Poirot is definitely a lovable character, but in this novel, some of his conversations were a “turn off.” I couldn’t help feeling an aversion to his talk about his hair and moustache in the beginning of the book. Hugh Fraser is a great audio-reader. The only thing I regret about his rendition of this story is that he gave Poirot a very subtle and mild Belgian accent, while I was hoping for a rather strong, foreign pronunciation. "

“A baffler of the first water, written in Agatha Christie’s best manner. It seems to us the very best thing she has done, not even excepting Roger Ackroyd.”
— New York Times“Mrs. Christie has invented an entirely new plot for a detective story—a difficult thing in these days; she is to be congratulated on the perfection of her invention.”
— Times (London)“An entirely original idea.”
— Daily Telegraph (London)“Agatha Christie at her best.”
— New York Herald Tribune“Her best yet. Where does she get hold of these brilliant notions?”
— Bristol Evening Post (England)“More disturbing than the alphabetic sequence of the killings or the ABC Railway guide that the killer leaves at the scene of each crime are the taunting notes Hercule Poirot receives each time the killer is about to strike again. It is one of Poirot’s most challenging cases yet.”
— Library Journal“Hercule Poirot comes out of his retirement, enticed to the chase by a series of anonymous letters, each one prophesying a murder in a certain town on a certain date. He fails—for four times—then the net tightens.”
— Kirkus Reviews (starred review)" This was my 4th Christie book. Not the most thrilling of them, but definitely a must for mystery lovers out there. "
— Jonathan, 7/24/2017" This book was an excellent read. It has suspense the whole way through. It is the type of book that you can not put down until you have finished it. "
— Mervi, 2/18/2014" I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it kept me guessing till the end. i highly reccomend this book to any Agatha Christie lover out there in the world! :) Well done Agatha!!! "
— Olivia, 2/17/2014" Really enjoyed this one... What I learned?? that I'm not as smart as Hercule Poirot - or Agatha Christie! Really got me thinking about how people write/construct a mystery. "
— Honeyd, 2/5/2014" It has been a long time since I have read any Christie, and this is my first encounter with Hercule Poirot. Somewhat odd, since the first section makes several suggestions that this is a later Poirot adventure. Nothing thrilling, but a fun and quick read. I would guess that there is better Christie and better Poirot out there though. "
— Benjamin, 2/4/2014" I truly enjoy the Poirot books, I am also very pleased that Christie remains an author where I often am not certain of the ending in the first 1/3rd of the book. This story, which involves a serial killer, does not disappoint. "
— Kiri, 1/28/2014" a treat for all detective fiction lovers! "
— Aakanksha, 1/27/2014" This is the second Agatha Christie that I've read - the other one was a Miss Marple and I think I prefer her character. It was an enjoyable enough read but it didn't grab!! not sure I'd rush back to read another Poirot "
— Kimberley, 1/20/2014" Had never read this Agatha. Now it's got to be one of my favorite. Poirot is always good - but a real plot twist in this one. "
— Lori, 1/19/2014" this book is soooooo awesome!!!!!!!! it has so murders & stuff and an incredible story!!! "

— Kristen, 12/30/2013" It was a good mystery. Had a good twist at the end. Love Agatha Christie... "
— Jordan, 12/26/2013" A little too mechanical for me, which admittedly is a problem with most of Christie's works but in the best ones she's able to overcome it. "
— Greg, 12/10/2013" brilliant writing by agatha christie!!! "
— Ju, 12/8/2013" The ABC murders rekindled my love of Agatha Christie & Hercule Poirot - a quick read and an entertaining murder mystery! "
— Lauren, 12/4/2013" bagi saya agak membingungkan sebenarnya membaca novel-novel Agatha Christie....tpi dari segi teka teki bolehlah yg ini..... "
— Devi, 10/24/2013" This book was amazing. The ending was so unexpected and unusual. Even though the answer was so weird, it all made perfect sense and I could picture it happening in real life. "
— Casey, 9/30/2013" thought i knew it all-- agatha threw me for a loop! "
— Em!ly, 8/16/2013" Reread November 29, 2003. "
— Katherine, 6/30/2013" This was my first audio book - and I really liked hearing the book rather than reading it. I'm an Agatha Christie fan and have always enjoyed her books. This was a typical one and good. I was unable to guess the murderer! "
— Tina, 5/24/2013" Gotta love Agatha Christie! "
— P_campbe, 4/3/2013" She was very clever ! She is the best author wrote about crimes .. This novel deserves to be a movie (in case they didn't film it) "
— Walaa, 4/1/2013" I love Agatha Christie, but didn't think the structure of this one made it one of her best. "
— Ashley, 3/18/2013" THis was so much better than the other Agatha CHristie books I had read. It was a very good read for lovers of mystery. Highly recommended. "
— Bita, 2/15/2013" Agatha Christie is one of my favourite writers for many reasons, but specially for her early works. This was a nice book, with a great end and very easy to read, but somehow, it failed to keep me engaged and, even though I read it in a couple of days, it's not one of the best! "
— ✿, 11/10/2012" This was pretty good - this was the first Christie book that I had read, though I've seen many of the David Suchet films. The plot wasn't quite as "oh!" as Murder on the Orient Express or Cards on the Table. It was a good read, though, I enjoyed it. Love Christie's writing style. "
