"This was a great book I really enjoyed it it was the usual virus breaks out (but this was with a little twist. It had a serial killer, mad scientist, hard as psychologically damaged cop, love story attempted containment and thousands of the liviung dead attacking residents of stebbins county. Ive read the first to books from Jonathan Maberrys rot and ruin series and they where great, but this was my the best one so far and I highly recommend it to all the zombie lovers."

Quotes

  • “This has to be one of the best traditional zombie tales I've ever read... This is a zombie book for the ages.

    — Seattle Post Intelligencer
  • Maberry grounds the story with scientific confidence, spares no attention to detail, and presents the undead as more than faceless targets.

" Love Love Love this book. The idea of how these zombies were created was a very unique and creative idea. Kinda spooky - maybe this could happen for real. Great bad ass female character. Just enough blood and gore, but now over whelming. For you that love the walking dead this book is for YOU!!!!! "

" A true roller coaster of a book. Give a star for a compelling sample, take one for a slow start, give one for an intriguing premise, take one for ridiculous characters, give one for good pacing and take one for getting all political. I wanted to take another star for an utterly predictable ending, but making this a 3-star seems a bit harsh - it's 3 stars on a normal scale but 4 on a Zombie Fiction scale. Hell, maybe 4.5. "

" Once again, Maberry does not disappoint. I didn't like the way the book started...kinda slow and I was a little iffy on the characters, but once you get the ball rolling, this take on zombie infestation was like an avalanche! Great new take on how the world ends. "

" Not bad. What is it with the zombie stories (and movies) these days? The characters in the book have heard of them yet don't know the rules for killing them. Also the author describes teh crazy of the main antagonist in almost pornographic detail. That's some seriously detailed descriptions of mental illness. In the end I am just grateful to not hear yet another explanation of kuru. "

" Was I the only one who saw the complete social commentary in this book? The characters questioning the government's power and what they can and can't do...anyway Jonathan Maberry illustrates that he is certainly a master at writing zombies. A very exciting read. "
