"I think this was my favorite of the three Joe Ledger books, so far. This one was more realistic and less out there than the first two. The realism made it more scary. I could definitely see the events of this book coming true, though of course, I hope they never do. There was something weird at the beginning of the book that I wonder if it was a mistake. It seemed like a spoiler and was really strange. It gave away something that seemed like it was supposed to be a big reveal later in the book. I can't tell if it was intentional or if the editors just missed it. Also, it seems like Maberry didn't think bin Laden would ever be caught by the way he features him in this book. That kind of made it a little dated even though it's only from two years ago. But the twists were great, the action scenes were exciting and SPOILER for animal lovers, Ghost does not die!"

“A fast-paced, brilliantly written novel. The hottest thriller of the New Year! In The King of Plagues, Jonathan Maberry reigns supreme.”
— Brad Thor, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Athena Project“Powered by a cast of over-the-top characters, breakneck pacing, nonstop action, and a subtle sense of humor, this is an utterly readable blend of adventure fiction, suspense thriller, and horror.”
— Publishers Weekly“Maberry’s best book to date. The ending guarantees a sequel that will be anxiously awaited by series fans.”
— Booklist“Joe Ledger and the DMS are back in their most brutal tale yet as they face off against a diabolical organization that is always one step ahead. As the sinister plot is exposed and the body count rises, The King of Plagues is impossible to put down. Be prepared to lose some sleep.”
— Jeremy Robinson, author of Threshold and Instinct" Too much of this novel is taken up by the chapters aptly titled "interludes", not enough Joe Ledger smashing skulls. And some of the major plot twists were so glaringly obvious I wanted to shake Joe for not coming to obvious conclusions earlier. All-in-all not as solid as the first 2 books. "
— Chris, 2/14/2014" OK but preferred other books in series. Seemed more like a prequel for a Sebastian series. "
— Candace, 2/14/2014" My favorite of the Joe Ledger so far. "
— Pedro, 2/10/2014" I love the Joe Ledger novels. Jonathan Maberry is kind of a genius when it comes to writing out fancy action thrillers that stink of conspiracy theories. I also love that the big bad evil has been maintained and throughout the novels in a believable way. This book is just so much fun to read and you can't help but root for the main characters. "
— Stephanie, 1/26/2014" Sometmes a pageturner sometimes not "
— Paul, 1/22/2014" 5 stars. Well, it's going to be. So who wheels do I grease to get it early? "
— Cj, 1/15/2014" One of the most intense books I have ever read. Not as good as The Dragon Factory but still one of the most thoroughly enjoyable books I have read. "
— Chad, 12/27/2013" Not as good as the first two but still action packed and fun to read. "
— Henrik, 12/27/2013" another chapter in the Joe Ledger saga, a fun quick read. really far fetched but well written. A nice break from reality. "
— Boozy, 12/25/2013" Just as good as the first, and in some ways, more chilling. Had a blast reading it! "
— C.E., 11/17/2013" I love this series. It is thrilling and action packed. It tides me over until the next Jim Butcher Dresden installment. "
— Jules, 11/13/2013" good action thriller "
— Keith, 10/21/2013" Another slice of James Bond for the 21st century, this time the stakes even higher and the conspiracy even broader. OK its not exactly challenging, but its a great read :-) "
— Ian, 7/11/2013" Joe Ledger's back in full force, love this guy "
— Joseph, 5/30/2013" It turns out that by this book I have actually fallen in love with paper and am signing my name as mrs. Nicole Ledger. I love this series and seriously recommend it! Get in your car drive to your local book store and buy! "
— Nicole, 2/19/2013" I don't know exactly what happened here but this book was a huge disappointment. It was almost as if the author of this book and the previous ones are different people. "
— Natalia, 9/28/2012" Not as good as Patient Zero, but I liked it better than The Dragon Factory. I hope there will be more novels featuring Joe Ledger, Echo Team, and the DMS. "
— Coley, 8/22/2012" Dull, unfinishable. "
— Eli, 11/21/2011" not quite as fun - brought back a villain -but still a good ride and I always like the pop culture references - keeps the outlandish plots tied to real life...HA! "
— Debbie, 9/26/2011" Another Joe Ledger book down and quality has not dipped at all. I love the interactions of the characters and the plot wasn't a straight forward end of the world type of thing. "
— Alex, 9/14/2011" Best of the Series ... "
— Paul, 8/16/2011" I really enjoyed reading this book. Great mix of action/suspense, kind of like diehard and xfiles combined. Don't want to describe as don't want to give anything away. "
— Kelly, 7/2/2011" another chapter in the Joe Ledger saga, a fun quick read. really far fetched but well written. A nice break from reality. "
— Boozy, 5/1/2011" Just as good as the first, and in some ways, more chilling. Had a blast reading it! "
— C.E., 4/26/2011" not as good as patient zero, but thats because maberry has set the bar so high. "
— Kevin, 4/24/2011"
Thrilled to see Ledger back in action! Nonstop suspense kept me glued to my Kindle. I keep telling my husband that Joe Ledger can kick Mitch Rapp's ass, but he is in denial! "
— Kris, 4/16/2011" Best of the Series ... "
— Paul, 4/13/2011" Another great story in the Ledger series. Number of distracting typos in the book and a character reveal early on that I'm wondering whether it was intentional or another editing goof. Looking forward to more stories, perhaps less Avril Lavigne. "
— Chris, 4/11/2011" Great book, I can't wait for the next one. I'm looking forward to finding more out about Nicodemus.
My favorite lines in the book....."I've never seen a dog eat French fries one at a time." then, "He'll share if you ask nice." Great stuff. "
— Tony, 4/7/2011" I really enjoyed this book. It is packed with suspense. I could not put the book down. "
— Bonnie1750, 4/5/2011" it was great, as usual Joe gets started with a bang! He has a new four legged friend, and new team members. All of which are amazing, and bring their own special skills and background to the story. I'd say more but i don't want to spoil anything. "
— Blair, 4/5/2011" I'm still worried about Cobbler, but at least he got a couple mentions in the book.

I really liked the new characters in this book, and the continuing development of Joe Ledger.
"
