WATCH WILL TRENT ON ABC!
Will Trent is a brilliant agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Newly in love, he is beginning to put a difficult past behind him. Then a local college student goes missing, and Will is inexplicably kept off the case by his supervisor and mentor, deputy director Amanda Wagner. Will cannot fathom Amanda’s motivation until the two of them literally collide in an abandoned orphanage they have both been drawn to for different reasons. Decades before, when his father was imprisoned for murder, this was Will’s home. It appears that the case that launched Amanda’s career forty years ago has suddenly come back to life—and it involves the long-held mystery of Will’s birth and parentage. Now these two dauntless investigators will each need to face down demons from the past if they are to prevent an even greater terror from being unleashed.

"I liked the book although it took awhile for me to get the rhythm of the story. The jumps from present day to 1975 were a little hard to follow. It really got interesting at about the halfway point. Glad I stuck with it. There were a couple of interesting twists and surprises at the end. I would like to read more of Karin Slaughter's books. Took me less than two days to finish it."

" I absolutely love Karon Slaughter's Will Trent series. However, this is the worst one. It didn't keep my interest. I could deal with the time hops, but the story telling was pointless. It seemed way too drawn out like she was trying to add words for a word count. Detailed story about Will tearing down a wall? Bring back the Crime! "
— Ljsnana, 3/8/2023" Great Book and Story! Love the Will Trent series! Karin Slaughter is an awesome author. I think I have listened to all her books that are available. "
— Andrea, 3/2/2020" Amazing author and book! It’s a must hear in this series! "
— Diana, 11/17/2017" I usually really enjoy this author's books. I found this one difficult to follow. The changes from past to present were often confusing. "
— Bonnie, 2/18/2014" I just love the writing style of this thriller. I was really drawn into it. "
— Mirjam, 2/18/2014" Because I hadn't read the previous few books in this series (only her earlier stuff), I got a bit lost in the beginning. I really enjoyed the flashbacks with Amanda and Evelyn but I remembered how much I didn't really like the Will Trent character and it's probably why I havent read many of the other novels. Even though he's had a tough life, etc, I think he's soft and needs to stand up for himself especially with his ex, Angie. He's a bit of a plodder and quite irritating. Having said that, after reading reviews of the previous novels, I may go back and read them just to fill in the blanks. I did like how the past and present collided and Slaughter did well with her research. I am just glad I wasn't a female police officer in the 1970s! "
— Karla, 2/5/2014" Like one long episode of CSI but set in the 70's before DNA analysis, and in current day. Very engrossing. Enjoyed it, but not one of my all-time favorites. "
— Sue, 1/7/2014" Hard to put down; not hard to love!! Amazing story from the creative mind of Karin Slaughter who never ceases to amaze me. "
— Jan, 12/31/2013" As good as the others. I really like this author a lot. "
— Jane, 12/29/2013" As always, a fabulous read. So many answers this time! "
— Karen, 12/23/2013" I LOVED this book. 4.75 "
— Mary-Lynn, 12/14/2013" It was great to read about Will Trent and his messed up family. "
— Jane, 11/28/2013" I really loved the book, because we got to learn the history of Will and Amanda. It was a bit confusing, because it jumped back and forth between 1970 and present day and also because there were too many characters to keep track of. "
— Karen, 11/27/2013" I'm a bit torn about this one. I loved it but a part of me wishes it had all been told in the past instead of skipping back and forth. That said, it was fascinating to see how some of the characters became who/what they are. "
— Amie, 10/17/2013" This series only gets better. This installation finally sheds light on the how & why of relationships between Will, Amanda, etc. Great read. "
— Norm, 9/14/2013" I have really enjoyed every book I have read by this author. I liked going back in time to learn more about Amanda and Evelyn. This book answers a lot of questions about Amanda's relationship with Will. "
— Janell, 8/27/2013" My first time reading this author and I was fascinated! I really enjoyed the history of women in the police force (why did I assume it was never WORSE for women in law enforcement?) and the backward and forward in time/storytelling from 1975 to the present. "
— Monique, 6/21/2013" Karin Slaughter does not disappoint AGAIN! FANTASTIC BOOK bringing Will and Amanda's past to the Present. I see them both in a whole new light! "
— Rebecca, 6/12/2013" I found it a little slow moving at first but it was so good. "
— Elana, 5/21/2013" Hands down one of her best books so far. I couldn't put it down for a second! "
— Deanna, 12/25/2012" Yet again another excellent book. One of those I couldn't put down. Interesting to see how it all began. When's the next instalment due? "
— Tracey, 12/3/2012" Twisted plot. Could not figure out how all the characters connected. Hope there is a sequel with some of the same characters. "
— Lesa, 11/5/2012" I really like this series and Will Trent. A different detective from the usual ones. Cannot wait for another book in this series "
— Rosario, 9/17/2012" Every time I read a new book by Karin Slaughter I think it's her best one yet. Well, it happened again. This book is really good, fleshing out a lot of characters in earlier books to the point that I want to reread the earlier books. "
