From the #1 New York Times bestselling master of suspense comes a fast-paced, emotion-packed novel about guilt, grief, and our capacity to forgive
17-year-old Haley McWaid is a good girl, the pride of her suburban New Jersey family, captain of the lacrosse team, headed off to college next year with all the hopes and dreams her doting parents can pin on her. Which is why, when her mother wakes one morning to find that Haley never came home the night before, and three months quickly pass without word from the girl, the community assumes the worst.
Wendy Tynes is a reporter on a mission, to identify and bring down sexual predators via elaborate--and nationally televised--sting operations. Working with local police on her news program Caught in the Act, Wendy and her team have publicly shamed dozens of men by the time she encounters her latest target. Dan Mercer is a social worker known as a friend to troubled teens, but his story soon becomes more complicated than Wendy could have imagined.
In a novel that challenges as much as it thrills, filled with the astonishing tension and unseen suburban machinations that have become Coben's trademark, Caught tells the story of a missing girl, the community stunned by her loss, the predator who may have taken her, and the reporter who suddenly realizes she can't trust her own instincts about this story-or the motives of the people around her.

"Middle class America, full of people wanting to be cool and 'socially acceptable'. A teen age girl disappears, a female tv reporter does a 'Dateline' type expose' showing one of the neighborhood men as a pedophile. He is filled by another. She begins to investigate whatever she can learn about the causes of this. The plot is complex and somewhat riveting, the characters horribly unlikable. I found no redemption for any of them until the conclusion, but, and this is the really frightening part, how much of this is plausible in today's world?"

— Antoinette, 1/20/2014" I'm a big Harlan Coben fan. I never have to worry about whether or not I'll like one of his books. Caught is one of his typical family mysteries with some of his usual characters, and, like normal, it was good. It wasn't as gripping as some of his have been, but it was still really enjoyable. "

— Larry, 8/1/2012" My first Harlan Coben book and it won't be my last. I took a star off because it confused me a little a couple of times but on the whole this did not detract from a twisting crime/thrliier novel. "

— Danielle, 5/19/2011" Classic Harlan Coben. Really enjoyed it . It has current event elements to the story such as parents allowing their kids and friends to drink in their house and at times got just the slightest bit preachy. Still, I read it in less than a day and enjoyed it greatly. "
— Paula, 5/18/2011" Caught is a quick read with lots of twists and turns. It is a mystery and I wanted to find out how this all happened. I thought that one part of the ending was a bit far-fetched but otherwise I found it an enjoyable book. "
— Joanne, 5/17/2011" I am really tired of the news reporter turned detective stories that also depict the real detective/cop as a bumbling yokel. This book was that in a nutshell. "

— Jessica, 5/17/2011" Fun read with lots of twists and turns. I enjoy this author immensely. "
— Leslie, 5/16/2011" A TV newscaster sets up a sting operation to nail an alleged pedophile. She is successful and opens up a typical Harlan Coben can of worms. Don't try to figure this one out as you are led through a maze of twists, turns, smoke and mirrors. <br/> "
— Chuck, 5/15/2011" Harlan Coben does a great job with his novel Caught! He weaves the stories of the people in the town together into a web of action, suspense and mystery. I stayed up last night to see how it all turned out and it was well worth it! "
— Lisa, 5/14/2011" I wanted to give it 3 1/2 stars but that is not an option here. 4 stars and above to me means that it is a must read. This book was almost there. Still I was happy to be reading a Coben book as he is one of my favorite authors! "
— Lisa, 5/13/2011" What a great story! I was hooked and had to read it during my breaks at work just so I could get through it. Coban is a master at weaving a tale. Especially good for someone who lives in New Jersey ;-) (just kidding). "
