Listener Opinions

" Having read most of Rita Mae Brown's Mrs. Murphy series, I was surprised by the number of current social issues she mentioned in the "Cat's Eyewitness," too many, in fact. I also felt it was a little gorier than most books in the series. This was not my favorite "Mrs Murphy" tale. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Claudia Senour | 2/19/2014

" This book was a little confusing. I had to wade through extranious information that had nothing to do with the plot. It seemed like the author just added words to a novella to make it long enough for a novel. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Elaine | 2/14/2014

" I read these books when I don't want to do much thinking. "

" Up in Mt Carmel where the local statue is crying tears of blood the intrepid Harry and her crew of Tee ticker, Sneakie Pie and Mrs. Murphy ad on the case again... The statue isn't the onlyy bleeding going on and the animals are hot on the scent. I can't get enough of this series! "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Janet | 2/5/2014

" Really lame. Cats and dogs have dialogue. Just a little too cutesy for me. Also, very religious. And the murderer was obvious. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Diane | 2/3/2014

" This series of light mysteries are a delight! You miss the characters when the story ends. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Nikki | 1/8/2014

" This is my first Mrs. Murphy book to read. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I started the series at the first book and worked through them in order. I found it to be enjoyable and easy to put down and come back to without having trouble following the story. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Martha | 1/3/2014

" This series is like coming home, you know the characters almost to the point of being predictable, but the plots continue to surprise and delight. The viewpoint of the animals makes it fun and interesting. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Jennifer | 1/1/2014

" This book was not as good as the others. I think Rita Mae got religion. Love the animal conversations. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Maggie | 12/26/2013

" easy summer reading. go for it, esp. under the shade of a tree with lemonade (or unsweetened iced tea) near at hand. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Glenkes | 12/24/2013

" OK, I think I've had enough of these thin, dirivative cutsy-animal talking Sneaky Pie Brown books. Rita Mae Brown seems now just to be churning out Lillian Jackson Braun-level mush to keep her critters on Afton Mountain in feed. What's worse is that she can be--and has been--a brilliant writer. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Leslie | 12/23/2013

" Maybe I've read too many cat mysteries lately. This one was a bit disappointing, but then I didn't like it when Harry left the post office. The romances started pushing aside the mystery in this one, at any rate. Ok, but not as much fun as the earlier ones. Or maybe I just don't like change! "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Cheryl | 12/6/2013

" A murder mystery with a cat loving sleuth. In this series the cats and dogs talk to each other. Ok, but not my favorite. Lots of pages spent on all the character's love live. language "

" My first Rita Mae Brown book with talking animals as well as humans. What seems like a fluffy mystery to read turned out to have lots of religious, philosophical and religious opinings which I found intrusive. I won't become one of Ms. Brown's faithful readers. "
