Multiple Anthony Award winner William Kent Krueger returns to Minnesota's North Woods country for another chilling entry in his Cork O'Connor series. In this thrilling mystery, former sheriff Cork O'Connor confronts the paranormal while investigating baffling murders. After 17-year-old Charlotte Kane-the beautiful, brilliant, and brooding daughter of a rich widower-disappears on a drunken New Years' Eve snowmobile ride, a raging blizzard soon snuffs out all search efforts. When her body is found during the spring thaw four months later, preliminary evidence implicates her ex-boyfriend-Ojibwe bad-boy, Solemn Winter Moon. But then a second Charlotte Kane turns up dead, and Cork isn't sure of anything any more. David Chandler's riveting narration of this hair-raising novel highlights the mystical elements in an electrifying tale of intrigue and foreboding. Listeners certainly won't want to miss Krueger's acclaimed Copper River. "Krueger skillfully crafts enough plot twists to keep everybody guessing through the bloody climax to the thrilling end."-Publishers Weekly "[Blood Hollow] takes Krueger's work to an entirely new level. The prose is so good and the plotting so deft that readers will be hard put to stop reading once they begin."-Chicago Sun-Times

"I'm enjoying this series (Cork O'Connor, sometime sheriff of Boundary Waters town in Minnesota), and for me this book - the fourth in the series - is the best thus far. Wow, twists and turns! A compulsive read that I scarfed down in a day or so while on vacation. The main character is good company and is gaining more depth as a character as the series progresses. I like the fact that he's part of a family - so many mystery series require the main character to be a serial loner or s/o who just can't get a steady relationship going - and to this family gal the family connections and emotions feel very real."

" Charlotte Kane has been murdered and Cork O'Connor is investigating the crime. Everything points to Solemn Winter Moon, the victims boyfriend. An interesting look at Catholicism and the Spirit world of the Ojibwe. Sin eating a concept I had never heard of is also used. "Eating away sins". Having faith, trying to find faith and living without any is also a central theme. "
— Laura, 2/13/2014" These take place in familiar areas in MN & WI. I heard William Kent Krueger speak at an author's series and he was terrific! "
— Sue, 2/12/2014" Another good Cork O'Connor story. "
— Stacey, 1/21/2014" I remain hooked on the Cork O'Connor series even though the author can't resist sprinkling the stories with a lot of magical nonsense and spirituality that I find rather annoying. This one had ghosts, the usual cast of Indian spirits, a visitation by Jesus and even a miraculous faith healing. It was a bit much. Despite these shortcomings, it was a good story that kept you scratching your head. I'm concerned that I won't find O'Connor quite as interesting a character since he ends the book reverting to his childhood faith and no longer the "rogue" ex-sheriff. Hopefully Kreuger will find some way to return him to his renegade status in subsequent episodes. "
— Sandra, 1/17/2014" Book Four of the Cork O'Connor Mysteries "
— Arizonagirl, 1/17/2014" Shows how police work isn't like it is on the television shows. A lot of hits and misses while following the clues and due diligence. Cork O'Connor is helping his wife defend a young Ojibwe accused of murder. Defnitely not everything is at it first appears and the past gets dredged up. "
— Vickie, 1/11/2014" Keeps u wanting to turn the page to see who did it. "
— Gerri, 1/3/2014" Very good mystery with the main character claiming to have seen Jesus and people believing he could preform miracles after this incounter. "
— Marla, 1/2/2014" Well-written, well-paced, and a good story. And, like others have said, lots of twists. "
— Robin, 12/20/2013" Definitely one of his best books - a spell-binding mystery. "
— Joann, 12/14/2013" If you like Joe Pickett or Walt Longmire or Mike Bowditch, you are going to like Cork O'Connor. "
— Shirley, 12/9/2013" This is the least favorite of this series that I have read so far. The storyline was too far fetched with lots of twists that were hard to follow. Hopefully the next one will be more realistic. "

— Vanillahugz, 12/17/2012" Really like Krueger's mysteries...the blend of native American spirituality, Catholicism, and plain old skepticism. Having the stories set in my native state of Minnesota doesn't hurt either. This one was good until the end...no drop in story line or character development. "
— Jane, 6/2/2012" This series gets better and better ... "
— Britt, 3/13/2012" Have enjoyed every Wm Kent Krueger book. MN author. If you have an affinity for northern MN, you will love his characters, the controversial issues he tackles and the settings. He's great fun to meet in person as well. "
— Susan, 3/11/2012" Weakest of the series so far. I have a feeling it's probably because there was no family conflict for Cork. "
— Brian, 2/18/2012" 3.5 stars. A lively mystery set in Minnesota, with intriguing characters. No graphic gore (a plus for me.)...a bit of Ojibwe culture....surprising twists and turns at the end. I enjoyed the setting and such details as Leinenkugel beer. I will definitely reed another Corky O'Conoran mystery. "

— Trudy, 8/10/2011" Another great story in the Cork O'Connor series. I liked this one much more than the previous one, mainly because it didn't involve Jo so much. "
— Amy, 4/9/2011" Clumsy and predictable. I found the characters two dimensional and generally unrelatable. One of the worst books I've read in a long time. If this wasn't a book club selection, I never would have finished. "

— Erik, 4/29/2010" Decent mystery to cleanse the palate after a lot of heavy nonfiction. Northern Minnesota, Indians and reservation, Catholics, and a serial killer. My first in the Cork O'Connor series, I liked the characters and will consider others. "
— Anita, 3/28/2010" One incredible book, he had me guessing gill the very end and I was still shocked. If you like mystery book you mustered the cork O'Connors series, it's truely incredible! "

— Randy, 3/14/2009" Kreuger's books get better and better. A high school girl disappears and is found dead. The Ojibway boy she was dating is the prime suspect. Cork tried to help prove his innocence. Enjoyed the Ojibway charcters and language sprinkled in throught the book. "
