"Very quick read. A lot of time is spent with secondary characters in this medium sized town, but I didn't mind that. Thought some more time could be devoted to the romance between Slade and Joslyn, but liked it all the same."
— Brianne (4 out of 5 stars)
“Miller’s down-home, easy-to-read style keeps the plot moving, and she includes…likable characters, picturesque descriptions, and some very sweet pets.”
— Publishers Weekly“Miller once again delivers an entertaining story of a small town peopled with basically good folks. This first in a new series has two great main characters who play well off each other and a wonderful cast of supporting ones whose stories will be eagerly anticipated.”
— RT Book Reviews (4 stars)" good story with appealing characters. "
— Marianne, 2/19/2014" Good book, really enjoyed the whole thing. "
— Tera, 2/13/2014" Good but not her best. Still...enjoyable. Looking forward to the next in this series "
— Susan, 2/11/2014" I am a fan of Linda Lael Miller and have been for many years. That being said I didn't like this book as much as some of her other ones. I liked the story but felt there wasn't enough interaction between Slade and Joslyn until towards the end of the book and then it seemed rushed to wrap up the happily ever after. I still will look forward to the next book in the series. "
— Amy, 1/31/2014" just could not get into this book. I hate not finishing a book but I just couldn't get through it. "
— Kerri, 1/21/2014" Though this book is technically considered a romance, don't be off-put by that genre grouping. It's well-written, with a very compelling story and complex characters. It's a quick, easy read, but since it's set amid the ranches of Parable, Montana, I'll refrain from calling it a "beach read." Joslyn Kirk returns to Parable after selling her successful computer business, remaining secretive about her intentions of returning to her childhood home after her family was run off years before. Slade Barlow is debating with himself about running for sheriff again, when he really wants to be close to home and help raise his ex-wife's teenage daughter. The two are thrown together and while the ending is typical romance, everything up to that point is really enjoyable. "
— Allison, 12/9/2013" Loved this book can't wait to read the next. "
— Austine, 12/3/2013" A really enjoyable story as always, but needs more love scenes. "
— Debbie, 12/3/2013" I want a Slade Barlow!! I couldn't put this book down and had it read in two day. Loved it. "
— Jaye, 10/14/2013" I like her series. They are deep but everything doesn't have to be. She makes her characters real. You can almost picture them and I do like a happy ending. "
— Jewett, 9/13/2013" Entirely predictable, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Montana is a beautiful state, anything that takes me there is worth it. "
— Katie, 3/22/2013" Good for a relaxing book "
— Orpha, 1/2/2013" I love Linda Lael Miller. Any book of hers is worth the read! "
— Sharon, 6/24/2012" another easy read by LLM...keep em coming "
