Plot Summary

Just when Ethan Wate thinks he is getting used to the shocking, miraculous events of Gatlin, he returns to this southern hometown of his with Lena, only to find that the impossible and bizarre have gone to the next level. Like a biblical plague, thre are locust swarms, destructive storms, and life threatening heat waves. Even the powerful family of Lena's is affected, and their supernatural powers start to go awry.

Ethan welcomes the distraction of this temporary chaos because the darkness of his dreams has begun to haunt him in his waking life, causing him to experience partial amnesia. Yet his fate and the town's are intertwined. The more time passes, the more Ethan and Lena realize a new sacrifice is required to save Gatlin, but who, or what will it be?

Sometimes the answers are unclear, and all one can do is move forward, even if that means a tragedy awaits.

The film Beautiful Creatures was released in America in February 2013, and introduced us to the world of the Caster Chronicles. One of the highest rated young adult fantasy series, the story of Ethan Wate and Lana Duchannes is masterfully crafted by two American authors.

Kami Garcia was raised near Washington D. C.. Yet she has ties to the south, where these tales are set, and she has always been fascinated by the supernatural. Margaret Stohl has a background in the video gaming industry, where she applied her creative writing first. Though they created the Beautiful Creature series together, both women now live in California and work separately.

"I loved this book, the writers are awesome. The story is entertaining, thrilling and romantic all at the same time. I love the series-its one of my favorites. I HIGHLY recommend it. One of the best books you'll ever read. Also the story is very original."

Publisher Summary

Ethan Wate thought he was getting used to the strange, impossible events happening in Gatlin, his small Southern town. But now that Ethan and Lena have returned home, strange and impossible have taken on new meanings. Swarms of locusts, record-breaking heat, and devastating storms ravage Gatlin as Ethan and Lena struggle to understand the impact of Lena's Claiming. Even Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals is affected - and their abilities begin to dangerously misfire. As time passes, one question becomes clear: What - or who - will need to be sacrificed to save Gatlin?

For Ethan, the chaos is a frightening but welcome distraction. He's being haunted in his dreams again, but this time it isn't by Lena - and whatever is haunting him is following him out of his dreams and into his everyday life. Even worse, Ethan is gradually losing pieces of himself - forgetting names, phone numbers, even memories. He doesn't know why, and most days he's too afraid to ask.

Sometimes there isn't just one answer or one choice. Sometimes there's no going back. And this time there won't be a happy ending.

" The audiobook hilarity ensues. If the narrator weren't so awesome and the poorly placed sound effects weren't so amusing, this book would only get two stars because the plot still has so many holes. And the cast of characters are just plain stupid. They don't communicate well and most of them appear not to think about anything. They are certainly not the Scooby Gang (Buffy reference)as most of the occurrences that shock them so much can be seen from a mile away. And what is with the "Teen Wolf" like plot line with one of the characters who shall remain nameless? Oh well. It is a train wreck I will continue to listen to, simply because it is so ridiculous. "

" What the Harry Potter was that?! I loved the way the ending was structured, reminded me of one particular poem (and I now a Mrs. that would appreciate the analogy), and the fact that one particular face was finaly kicked. That's right, emo princess, I'm talking about you! But how do you call a plot like that - "Close enough!"? "
