"Once again this author does a great job making the characters enjoyable to read and learn about. This is the first in the De Piaget series and it covers how Rhys received Artane and his wife Gwen. Lots of twists and turns, making for an enjoyable if not somewhat predictable story. "

" I'm not naive. I know how marriages were arranged in the time period, and many of them loveless. But, I had a really hard time reading the about the first two years of the marriage. It broke my heart. Yes, I knew the happy ending would come, but come with a heavy price, it did. "
— Erin, 2/18/2014" My least favorite of the De Piaget books, it made me a little too sad, but I still loved it. "
— Brenda, 2/16/2014" Nice story of the beginning of the de Piagets. Kurlands dialogue is catchy and amusing. "
— Barbara, 2/6/2014" I am so happy I found this author. I love historical fiction/romance and these are humorous and PG in terms of the romance aspect (a rare find). I will be sad when I finish the last few books and have to find another series to read. "
— Kate, 1/27/2014" Lynn Kurland is my favorite author, and I love (5stars love) most of her other books. However, this one is really really sad. It's a beautiful love story, but I read books to feel happy and escape the world and it's problems for a bit, this one drowns you in sorrow until the very end where it picks up with a HEA. I would definitely recommend it since it's the first in the De Piaget series, but just be forewarned, it's a sad one. "
— Ashley, 1/14/2014" This was the book that supposedly started it all, being the first chronologically of Lynn Kurland's books. It may be one of my least favorite of the batch, but still excellent. "
— Abby, 1/2/2014" Lynn Kurland is my latest favorite author. She writes--get this--time travel and paranormal romances. Not my usual fare. But I love her stuff. "
— Wendy, 12/23/2013" I loveed this book. Gwen and Rhys are some of my new favorite characters ever!! I love her spunk and the way he takes it. Cannot wait til the next one!! "
— Rachel, 12/22/2013" I love these books, and I read them a long time ago but I'm reading them again. I love the depth of the stories and the characters. And I loved reading this one because I enjoyed being introduced to lots of characters in later books. It's great to see them "grow up". "
— Jennifer, 12/19/2013" This was a good romance without the smut. I love the time era it is set in. And i love the continuation of the series. "
— Krissa, 12/14/2013" lOVED THIS BOOK i THOUGHT IT WAS DIFFERENT FROM SOME OF THE OTHER LYNN KURLAND NOVELS. LOVE THESE TWO CHARACTERS. AND THERE MERRY FRIENDS. LOVED THIS. "

— Danielle, 11/29/2013" A wonderful, clean time period romance! Yeah! If you like knights, ladies, castles and swords, you'll love any of Lynn Kurland's books in the De Piaget series. Some even involve time travel, which is fun as well. "
— Spring, 10/31/2013" Finally got my hands on the first book of the De Piaget's on Rhys and Gwennelyn. Different type of plotline, but still a very good read. "
— Kendra, 9/25/2013" Wonderful romance novel without the graphic sex. :) Love it! Lynn Kurland is one of my favorite authors who continues to write exceptional books! "
— Calah, 9/9/2013" this book would have been a 1/3 less thick if you took out all the "the saints preserve me" and "by the saints" remarks....sometimes it was twice in one paragraph! "
— Michele, 8/27/2013" This is not one of my favorites as the villains in this one are often deliberately cruel and I just don't like that, but it's still well-written. And it was important to re-read it to understand some other things that are coming down the pike in ones I plan to re-read later. "
— Valerie, 6/17/2013" Very clean G-rated romance. Cute simple chivalrous tale of true love over coming all obstacles, but it drug on too long in spots. If I was 14 y/o I may have loved it, but overall this is not my flavor of romance reads. "
— ♡KarLynP♡, 12/11/2012" Terrible...I'll try another of her books only because a friend loved her books... "
— Kathy, 11/1/2012" I adore all of Lynn Kurland's time travel books. She draws well developed, deeply developed characters and injects a great deal of humor along the way. "
— Nancy, 5/22/2012" Okay story line until you get to a breaking point in the middle where the main characters give into their passions. I put the book down. "
— Cindy, 3/2/2012" One of the few straight romance novels I've read, and fairly decent for the genre. I had a friend that kept poking me to read this author, and it was definitely some fun, fluffy reading. "
— Caroline, 1/26/2012" Good. Liked the humor and the fair lady's determination to be a mercenary. Too much separation. "
— Ruth, 11/9/2011" This book was hard to get through. Not because I wasn't entertained, but because I couldn't smack one of the characters. I felt the need to stand up for the good guys and found myself very frustrated that I couldn't. =) I'll definitely look in to book 2 of the series. "
— Heather, 8/17/2011" Good. Liked the humor and the fair lady's determination to be a mercenary. Too much separation. "
