13 1/2: A Novel Audiobook

" This was quite different from Barr's Anna Pigeon books that I like so much, but this one was liked as much or more. The dark side of the author comes out in this book of a child convicted of killing his family. "

" I had two sweet little old ladies who were sisters on my plane. They told me how much they love Nevada Barr so I picked this one up at random. Not what I was expecting! I was interested in the characters but she jumped around so much it was confusing. I knew very early on who the bad guy was but it was interesting to see how she resolved the story. "

" Had not ever read a "one-off" of Nevada Barr previously. Usually reading her Anna Pigeon books. This, while having a very dark theme, and a fairly easy to determine ending, was still a good read. Another good picture of life in New Orleans. "

" I'm sorry that this book wasn't better. Maybe I expect too much from mysteries, like well developed and credible characters, or at least semi-opaque story lines. I will admit I read until the end, but certainly not to find out what happened or whodunnit. I finished it merely out of boredom. If you want a good mystery with characters you not only believe in, you want to hang out with them, read Tara French's "In The Woods". "

" i read this in about 12 hours....too much horror much too fast. very creepy, but glad to know that ms. barr can write something besides the standard mystery. really good reading, but you won't feel very good when you're finished. "
