Publisher Description

Now a major motion picture starring Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba

The second volume in Stephen King’s #1 bestselling Dark Tower Series, The Drawing of the Three is an “epic in the making” (Kirkus Reviews) about a savage struggle against underworld evil and otherworldly enemies.

“Stephen King is a master at creating living, breathing, believable characters,” hails The Baltimore Sun. Beginning just less than seven hours after The Gunslinger ends, in the second installment to the thrilling Dark Tower Series, Roland encounters three mysterious doorways on a deserted beach along the Western Sea. Each one enters into a different person’s life in New York—here, he joins forces with the defiant young Eddie Dean, and with the beautiful, brilliant, and brave Odetta Holmes, to save the Dark Tower.

“This quest is one of King’s best…it communicates on a genuine, human level…but is rich in symbolism and allegory” (Columbus Sunday Dispatch). It is a science fiction odyssey that is unlike any tale that Stephen King has ever written.

"Rivetting, dark, and full of suspense. I loved every minute of it. My only complaint is that Stephen King clearly didn't do his research when writing the woman with multiple personalities--he keeps incorrectly referring to her as "schizophrenic" and provides a rather unlikely scenario for her developing what would, at the time, have been correctly called "multiple personality disorder", as well as giving what feels like a very contrived cure for the woman's condition. Aside from that, though, I loved the book--and after all, it is a work of fantasy and so we should be willing to suspend our disbelief, even for the events that take place in our own world. I thought this book was much better than the first Dark Tower novel, which I found to be a little confusing and inaccessible for a book that didn't really seem to have anything to offer besides entertainment (not that there's anything wrong with entertainment). I loved all three of the major characters in this novel--the Clint-Eastwood-esque gunslinger who serves as protagonist, the heroin junkie Eddie Dean and the severely mentally ill political activist, Odetta Holmes. It's an action-packed romp with plenty of mystery, suspense, and character development, and I'm looking forward to Book 3 of the series."

Its very fast moving and a lot of information so listen carefully. and always remember the boy for some reason hes has a big part in this quest to the dark tower. "

" I read the Dark Tower series when they first came out and this book, once again doesn't fail to deliver. You're on the edge of your seat from the get go. When it was over, I was like "wait...what?" I was so unhappy it was over, I immediately downloaded the next three. I remember how the series ends but I don't remember what happens on the way to the end. Loving it!!! "

" The Drawing of the Three is my second favorite book in the Dark Tower series. In this book, King is at his finest at developing characters, and the reader feels a strong and personal connection with the characters Eddie, Susannah, and Jake as well as Roland. The reader also gets a stronger understanding of the possible sacrifices Roland is willing to make to reach the Dark Tower, previously alluded to in The Gunslinger. I remember the very first time I read this book and how the ending definately didn't turn out the way I was expecting it to end. This is one of the rare books where King's ending actually lives up to the anticipated climax of the story. The reader will definately not walk away from this one feeling let down. "
