Publisher Description

Friendship, love, and forgiveness...

The Maxwells and the Popes have been friends forever. The women were college roommates, their husbands are partners in the same law firm, their kids have grown up next door to each other, and the two families share both vacations and holidays.

Like Wisteria Lane, the "perfect" suburban street of Desperate Housewives, all is beautiful and serene -- until an accident forces these close neighbors to look beneath the surface. And when their idyllic lives are unexpectedly shattered by a moment that can never be erased or forgotten, their faith in one another -- and in themselves -- is put to the supreme test.

In this moving, unforgettable story, Barbara Delinsky exquisitely captures the depth and complexity of the human heart as few writers can.

" i picked up this book as it was a recommended author similar to jodi picoult, who i have been reading a lot of lately and really enjoy. this book just didnt do it for me. the complete basis of the book wasnt believable. while the aftermath was interesting, i just couldnt get past the event itself. there wasnt enough build up to make me believe it. " I went blind into reading this book. Turned out to be really good. I suppose it could fall under the romance category, except that realistic issues of divorce and kids were involved. Some hot scenes spiced it up too. Well written. "

" only 4 stars because the ending was too close to what would happen in real life, instead of the purely happy ending I am always in search of. "

" I liked the book. Not one of her best but it was good none the less. I thought the story line was very similar to The Pact by Jody Picoult. It seemed like one or the other read the other authors book and thought they could improve it a little. I would take this over The Pact anyday. I don't think they addressed the issue of infidelity appropriately, you don't just accidentally have sex with your best friends husband/wife.That being said it was a nice way to pass my time and it did have a happy ending. Which is always nice. "

" Barbara Delinsky is one of my favorite authors, however this book started out kind of slow. But I stuck with it and really enjoyed it. Barbara has such a great way of developing the characters in her novels. I look forward to more of her books. "

" I kept turning the pages, wanting to know how the story turned out. I spent the day with my grandchildren, but my mind kept returning to my book. When I see the author is Barbara Delinsky I know the book will be a good story and not a cookie cutter book. "

" I think Delinsky is a very good writer of human drama. She makes the characters come alive. The endings are sometimes predictable, but that doesn't hurt the story. "

" Like most of Barbara Delinsky's books the major conflict happens in the first chapter. The rest of the book deals with the aftermath. Its a good quick read where you care about the characters enough to finish but not enough to miss them when its finished. "
