DON’T MISS BRIDGE OF CLAY, MARKUS ZUSAK’S FIRST NOVEL SINCE THE BOOK THIEF AND AN UNFORGETTABLE AND SWEEPING FAMILY SAGA.

From the author of the extraordinary #1 New York Times bestseller The Book Thief, I Am the Messenger is an acclaimed novel filled with laughter, fists, and love.

A MICHAEL L. PRINTZ HONOR BOOK

FIVE STARRED REVIEWS

Ed Kennedy is an underage cabdriver without much of a future. He's pathetic at playing cards, hopelessly in love with his best friend, Audrey, and utterly devoted to his coffee-drinking dog, the Doorman. His life is one of peaceful routine and incompetence until he inadvertently stops a bank robbery.

That's when the first ace arrives in the mail. That's when Ed becomes the messenger. Chosen to care, he makes his way through town helping and hurting (when necessary) until only one question remains: Who's behind Ed's mission?

"After reading The Book Thief, I knew I had to read more by Markus Zusak--and he didn't disappoint. While The Book Thief is still infinitely better, I Am the Messenger is a great book, and was extremely enjoyable (after all, I did start and finish it today). It captures your interest from the start, and the interesting plot and characters, coupled with Zusak's writing, will keep you reading to the end."

" This was a quick and easy read but I thoroughly enjoyed it. While you can sort of predict the end, the writing hooks you to Ed and you just can't help rooting for him. In a lot of ways, Ed reminds us of ourselves because he is ordinary, complacent, and insecure so you want him to succeed and change for the better. For his sake and yours too. "

" I. Love. This. Story. The ending? Well, I had to re-read, and think about it, then re-read again. Then I got online to see what other people thought about the ending. After all of that, I changed my rating from four stars to five. I loved Ed Kennedy, Audrey, The Doorman, and even, in the end, Marv. Lovely, sweet story. "
