Raymond Briggs (1934-2022) was a British author, illustrator, and cartoonist and one of the most successful picture book creators of his time. His books include classics such as Father Christmas, The Snowman and Fungus the Bogeyman. Among very many awards and honors, he also twice won the Kate Greenaway Medal for Illustration, and his book titled Ug was the winner of the Smarties Silver Award. Several of his books have been televised, and When the Wind Blows has also been staged as theater.
