Nancy Rawles is a novelist and playwright who grew up in Los Angeles and began her career as a professional writer in Chicago. Her first novel, Love Like Gumbo, was awarded the 1998 American Book Award and Washington State’s Governor’s Writers Award. Her plays have been produced in Chicago, San Francisco, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Los Angeles, and Seattle, where lives and teaches creative writing.
