Maryam Rostampour is the co-author of Captive in Iran. Born to a Muslim family in Iran, Maryam converted to Christianity later in life. She and co-author Marziyeh Amirizadeh spent several years doing mission outreach in Iran and Asia before being arrested in Tehran in 2009. As a result of international lobbying, Maryam and Marziyeh were released later in 2009 and cleared of all charges the following year. After her release, Maryam emigrated to the United States and now lives near Atlanta.
