Kendric Charles Babcock (1864–1932), a native of New York state, completed his undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota in 1899, where he then taught history. From 1894–1896 he attended Harvard University, where he received a master’s degree and doctorate. He became the fifth president of the University of Arizona, where he introduced many new courses and departments. Babcock resigned in 1910 to take a position with the US Bureau of Education.
