He helped create the television show That Was the Week That Was and coauthored the memoir of composer Marvin Hamlisch, The Way I Was. Gerald served as advisor to Robert Kennedy during his campaign for the US Senate. His books on the movie industry include The Censorship Papers, The Tara Treasury, and I Coulda Been a Contender.
