Dick Gould, Stanford’s men’s tennis coach from 1966–2004 and John L. Hinds Director of Tennis from 2004–2018, is generally regarded as the greatest college tennis coach of all time, and one of the greatest college coaches in any sport. He is fifth on the list of NCAA titles won across all sports with seventeen men’s tennis championships over thirty-eight years. Every single one of his over two hundred players who played all four years earned at least one championship ring, an incredible feat. Gould has been inducted into numerous Halls of Fame and Halls of Honor, including those at Stanford, the Pac-12 Hall of Honor, the US Professional Tennis Association, and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
