About the Authors
Louisa May Alcott (1832–1888) was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania. Educated by her father until she was sixteen, she also studied under Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Theodore Parker. A prolific writer, her most famous work was Little Women, a timeless American classic.
Katherine Mansfield (1888–1923) was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and settled in Europe to finish her education. She published her first short fiction in The New Age, then in Rhythm, whose editor, the British writer and critic John Middleton Murry, she soon married. Her writing contributed to the development of the stream of consciousness technique and to the modernist use of multiple viewpoints, and her style has had a powerful influence on subsequent writers in the same genre.
Charlotte
Mew (1869-1928) was a Victorian English poet writing on the cusp
of modernism. Several of her poems are proto-modernist in form and gave her
work a unique beauty and passion. Though largely forgotten today, she was
esteemed by her literary peers who believed she approached poetic genius. She
died tragically in 1928 after drinking Lysol during a bout of depression.
About the Narrators
Eve
Karpf is a British actress and voice talent. She is known as the voice of
Ferrero Rocher, and has provided voices for numerous video games, including the
Harry Potter series, in which she voiced Minerva McGonagall.
Liza Ross is an accomplished actress and voice-over artist based in London. She gained a BA in Honors English at the University of Toronto and trained for an acting career at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Her film work includes Leap Year, Batman, and Return to the Secret Garden. A prolific and award-winning narrator of audiobooks, she won an AudioFile Earphones Award for The Marvelous Land of Oz. Her extensive work in the voice field includes voice overs, animation, and postsync work for films. She is a codirector of the Story Circle audiobook production company. She is married to actor and producer Garrick Hagon.
