Christine and her older brother, Henry, grew up in the Delaney family as loved and nurtured as if they had been born to Elizabeth and Wynn. Now adults, they are ready to make new lives for themselves. Henry has found love and is planning a wedding. Christine is delighted for her brother, but she is still carrying scars from a broken relationship. And the war in Europe causes uncertainties at every turn, while the Northland still calls to her heart.

Amid this instability, more than one handsome young man shows interest in Christine, and she must make a decision. Is she willing to give up her dreams of a life in the North for a love to last a lifetime?

" I mostly enjoyed the story, but I have to say that I am rather disappointed in the ending, especially as it is the ending of the entire series! Christine didn't end up with the man I felt she should be with, so it kind of cast a shadow over the entire book for me. "

" I enjoyed this book. I did find some passages were rather "show don't tell" and I found the ending rather abrupt: one, because I did not expect it, and two, because some of the storylines seemed unfinished. I was disappointed because I had been enjoying reading it quite a bit until that point. "
