With glue guns, glitter, twigs, or yarn, the ordinary can become extraordinary . . . especially at La Pachanga. Owned by Estrella “Star” Esteban’s family, the restaurant has a rep for two things: good food and great art. La Pachanga brings people together—even when it looks like they couldn’t be further apart. One ill-fated evening, Star jeopardizes her family’s business, her relationship with her boyfriend, and her future career. To redeem herself, she agrees to participate in a national craft competition, teaming up with her best friend, Ofelia—a secretly troubled mother whose love for crafting borders on obsession; and local celebrity Chloe Chavez—a determined television personality with more than one skeleton in her professional closet. If these unlikely allies can set aside their differences, they’ll find strength they never knew they had, and learn that friendship, like crafting, is truly an art form.

"Love the characters, the storyline, the settings, the plot, etc. I hope Kathy decides to pick up where she left off, I'd love to know what happens to Star, and everyone else. I also like how the author added some of the how-to crafts at the end of the book. We need more Craftista novels out there!"

" This was a light and fun book to read with a valuable lesson about love and friendship built in and the bonus of shiny, sparkly things scattered throughout. I enjoyed it. "
— Betsy, 2/2/2014" Although, in the end, I did like the book as a whole, I had to fight myself to keep reading it at the beginning. I think the characters are too way over the top at the beginning. This in itself made me want to put it down and take it off my Kindle. However, I wanted to give it a really good chance because I follow the author's blog and think she is very talented, so I stuck with it. I'm glad I did but I'm wondering how many other people will give it that extra chance. "
— Corina, 1/26/2014" absolutely loved :) "
— Lizisu, 1/26/2014" It was slow for me to start, but could've just been the mood I was in...once I got into it though, I couldn't put it down! Great book, can't wait for her next book to come out! "
— Elena, 1/25/2014" Fabulous read- funny and witty yet with a great love story intertwined. I really enjoyed the development of the characters and the crafty storyline. I am looking forward to the sequel. "
— Minnie, 1/19/2014" I enjoyed reading this first book by the Crafty Chica. It's a light read, just what I was looking for at the time. That being said, I thought that the storyline was quite good, particually the arc of Crafty Chloe. "
— Tina, 1/15/2014" This was my first "crafty chica novel" and it was lighthearted good reading while traveling (on audio). Don't know too much about Arizona. Found myself interested in the characters. "
— Maryann, 1/12/2014" Couldn't get through it. Cheesy plot, boring main character and at about a 6th grade reading level. Not the book for me. "
— Erica, 1/2/2014" This novel has a wonderful message, although more and more cheesy as you go along. A very quick, fun read - especially if you love arts and crafts. It's based in Phoenix, where I live, so it was wonderful visiting Kathy's perfect crafty alternate universe. "
— Amanda, 12/31/2013" After I read the book I got my friends MAC viva glam lipsticks just like Chloe "
— Ana, 12/21/2013" I thought it was pretty cute, but kind of cheesy at times. "
— Carrie, 12/10/2013" different- liked the story and characters! "
— Shannon, 12/7/2013" Everything I needed in a good book! Culture, love, and artsy!!! "
— Nadia, 11/12/2013" Reads like a novella...except without the multitude of random plot twists. Oh, they're still there, just not in so high a number. There are definitely some plot holes and some crises are a little too tidily wrapped up but I was entertained. "
— Emma, 10/13/2013" Great! It is such a warm book about the power of friendship. "
— Loida, 9/18/2013" This book is about three women artists/crafters, that discover themselves by taking part in a craft group "Craftista amigas para vida." I loved all the themes represented in this book, including love, friendship, discovery, music, family, arts, and crafts. "
— Adriana, 8/28/2013" This was a fun book with great characters that really made me want to do some of the crafts I have categorized in my browsers as "Crafts I Can't Believe I Think are Cool". "
— Joanne, 6/13/2013" Very good, fun read. "
— Vicki, 9/4/2012" I am really liking this story. Glad to know characters in books can be based on people like me (imperfect). "
— Nita, 7/26/2012" Great cultural tidbits. Love books that include lots of family members interacting and this one does. Funny and sweet. "
— Julia, 7/5/2012" I am a big Chic lit fan and Kathy Cano-Murillo hits the mark with this fabulous story about angst, love, girlfriends and crafts. I also love the Phoenix reference! This is a great summer read - I wanna sprinkle glitter everywhere!! "
