Publisher Description

Gunnery Sergeant Torin Kerr is a Confederation Marine's marine. She has survived more deadly encounters—and kept more of her officers and enlistees alive—than anyone else in the Corps.

Unexpectedly pulled from battle, Torin finds herself in an underground POW camp that shouldn't exist, where her fellow marine prisoners seem to have lost all will to escape. Now Torin must fight her way not only out of the prison but also past the growing compulsion to sit down and give up—not realizing that her escape could mean the end of the war.

" Tightly written and plotted, kept me up all night. Military sf with flashes of humor. I enjoyed this better than "The Heart of Valor." Overall, great series by Huff, better than her fantasy. "

" i don't like the fact that the characters i like die, yet, it's reasonable to the story. serious, she's locked in a prison. more of that military hierarchy. not a happy - everyone lives happily ever after. again asks the questions, are lives sacrificed worth it? "

" As always, good military sci-fi fiction, but this conclusion (I think) to the series just had too many casualties for me to enjoy the story as much as the others in the series. Not that the other books didn't have their fair share of deaths. "

" This is the fourth (and it seems to me to be probably the last) volume in Huff's series of military adventures featuring Torin Kerr. It struck me as more political and philosophical in nature than the previous volumes, and perhaps not quite as convincing, though it was still worthwhile. "
