Lara Lington has always had an overactive imagination, but suddenly that imagination seems to be in overdrive. Normal professional twenty-something young women don’t get visited by ghosts. Or do they?
When the spirit of Lara’s great-aunt Sadie–a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance–mysteriously appears, she has one last request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie’s possession for more than seventy-five years, and Sadie cannot rest without it. Lara, on the other hand, has a number of ongoing distractions. Her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, her start-up company is floundering, and she’s just been dumped by the “perfect” man.
Sadie, however, could care less.
Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie’s necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different “twenties” girls learn some surprising truths from each other along the way. Written with all the irrepressible charm and humor that have made Sophie Kinsella’s books beloved by millions, Twenties Girl is also a deeply moving testament to the transcendent bonds of friendship and family.

— Lynda (5 out of 5 stars)
Like everything [Kinsella] writes, it’s warm and lively.
— Time[A] most delicious and delightful romp.
— Publishers Weekly[Kinsella] continues to tickle funny bones and touch hearts.
— USA TodayLaugh-out-loud.
— San Francisco Chronicle" I generally am not into ghosts and spirits so I had a hard time with this book. I was surprised that Sophie Kinsella delved into this phenomena. It was an ok story. I continued reading until the end mainly to see how she dealt with the subject. I still am not into ghosts. "
— Mary, 2/19/2014" I wasn't really impressed with this book. The ghost was annoying and immature... I guess when you're a 23 yr old ghost you probably will be immature. When it came to Ed, I couldn't connect with his character. It took a while for him to show up in the book and even then, with the whole "love" triangle, I couldn't see his appeal besides his looks and status. I ended skimming quite a few parts, the book just seemed soooo long. Anyways, it was an "Ok" read I guess. "
— Nina, 2/7/2014" imaginative. funny. warm. leaves you feeling good. "
— Sarah, 1/26/2014" I wasn't sure what I would think of this book... the premise was a little out of my usual reading genre. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The main character is likable and quirky. The ghost who "haunts" her is also a likable character. The only part of the book I found annoying was the main character's infatuation with her ex-boyfriend. Once you get past that, however, it played into a cute story with ho-hum progress that was a pleasure to read. It is a light read that ties up nicely in the end. I love stores that tie up nicely in the end and doesn't leave you wondering what happens next. "
— Brenna, 1/17/2014" This is not a good book. The main characters are not particularly likeable. But I bought it used in a Brussels secondhand bookshop, and it got me through a train ride, Tube ride, and part of the bus home, so thanks, Sophie Kinsella! "
— Lia, 12/23/2013" Probably my least favorite of hers. A bit too fanciful for my liking! "
— Themi, 12/5/2013" i like the mystery in this story. Nice. I love the characters! "
— Aiza, 12/1/2013" The premise is cheesy but yes I got sucked in. It is a relationship between a 20 something women and the ghost of her great aunt. I have read another book by this author and I really like the way she writes. Although, she likes to use the F word a lot. With that said, I liked it. "
— Leanne, 11/21/2013" faaaaab!! sophie kinsella never disappoints me :) "
— Melissa, 11/20/2013" One of her best books I've read :) "
— Akhmal, 11/14/2013" Loved this book but there was a lot of language so I can't in good conscience recommend it. "
— Jenn, 11/13/2013" A fun read. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It made me laugh. "
— Rachel, 11/2/2013" A light read. Entertaining in a chick lit way. "
— Rhiannon, 8/12/2013" My favorite chick lit author :) "
— Betty, 5/23/2013" This book had me rolling in the sand with laughter, an amusing holiday read. Kinsella, yet again, does a wonderful job in creating a relatable character with abundant humour, with a thrilling and unique twist. "
— Alltimes, 4/10/2013" Too funny, laugh out loud which did not make it great reading on the tube, got a few funny looks but well worth it :-) "
— Ruth, 2/4/2013" This book actually made me laugh out loud. It was a joy to read. "
— Tamara, 1/28/2013" At first, Sadie and Lara struck me as silly and incapable, but soon the book became a gripping read. In the end, I was sad it had to finish. "
— Corrie, 1/23/2013" from memory it was a ice easy read and fairly interesting. not a favourite and TBH not sure i would read it again. "
— Melissa, 11/28/2012" This was a fun story that made me feel great. Laugh out loud funny too. Loved it! "
— Barb, 8/24/2012" I enjoyed this book, but not as much as other Sophie Kinsellas books - you can't please everyone all of the time!! "
— Shelley, 5/20/2012" Maybe it was just the book on tape and the obnoxious actress, but I just could not listen to this book any longer and never finished it. Just too silly, which is saying a lot coming from me because I read all sorts of silly and unrealistic books! "
— Toren, 3/7/2012" I really gave this book a 4.5 but there was no option for this on the site. "
— Michele, 11/23/2011" I liked it! The book was reflective of Kinsella's fun and engaging style of writing. I enjoyed following Lara as she tried to understand Sadie's need to find the necklace. "
— Ijane, 10/17/2011" Cute. Light but heart warming. Something different. Enjoyed it. "
— Tara, 10/4/2011" I couldn't get past the whole ghost thing. Wtf? "
— Ashley, 7/17/2011" Adorable, funny and touching but not icky and cheesy "
— Linda, 5/23/2011" Good fun. A perfect vacation read. "
— Jill, 5/22/2011" First digital book I've read! Borrowed from library too! Double bonus. Fun, light, good stuff. Kinsella is perfect for a fun quick read. "
— Danette, 5/22/2011" Surprisingly poignant. It was slow to start but it had a middle that kept you intrigued and a lovely ending to boot. "
— cassie, 5/17/2011" Normally I think books in this genre are appropriate only for beach reading where fluff is excusable, but in this case I thought the extra plot twists took it beyond chick-lit drivel into a funny, but light read. "
— Kristen, 5/17/2011" You have to read this book...makes me wonder sometimes what my grandparents were like when they were younger...you will fall in love with this womans grandmother! "
— Lynn, 5/15/2011" This is by far my favorite Sophie Kinsella book...Wonderful!!!! "
— Andrea, 5/15/2011" If only Ms. Kinsella could avoid the F word she would be perfect. "
— Nancy, 5/14/2011" I was kind of surprised by how much I enjoyed this because her shopaholic books are beginning to get on my nerves! it was very entertaining...good book! "
— Jennifer, 5/14/2011" I enjoyed this way more than I expected too. Probably my favorite Sophie Kinsella book (and I have now read most of them :) "
— Dana, 5/14/2011" To be honest I didn't get more than 3 or 4 chapters in. It was too much of a snooze-fest for me to plow through. I do like Ms. Kinsella's other non-Shopaholic titles but I just couldn't get into this one. "
