Sophie Kinsella's debut is a rollicking romp through the perils of shopping and spending, spending, spending! Becky can't resist a sale, and she's only a little overdrawn on her VISA. Besides, that new scarf is just too cute to pass up. Readers will laugh aloud at Becky's retail adventures as she finds new and creative ways to relieve her increasingly burdensome credit card debt. Emily Gray's narration bounces along with Becky and her buying whims, while delivering a humorous account of what happens when credit goes bad.

"This book started out not so good, and having just finished Twenties Girl which I loved from cover to cover, I was a little dissapointed. But I stuck with it and was glad I did so as i ended up really enjoying it and sorry to come to the end."
— Sue (4 out of 5 stars)
“A have-your-cake-and-eat-it romp, done with brio and not a syllable of moralizing…Kinsella has a light touch and puckish humor.”
— Kirkus Reviews“If a crème brûlée could be transmogrified into a book, it would be Confessions of a Shopaholic.”
— The Star-Ledger" The most useless character I've ever read about. The most useless book I have (it was a gift). I can't believe that people spend money for stuff like this! "
— Shar, 2/18/2014" An easy read, total chick-lit and nothing to serious. Enjoyed the book but unsure I will invest the time to read the others in the series as I don't know where else it could really go without getting old "
— Gemma, 2/14/2014" Beautiful things and designer things have something in common, they are seldom cheap. However our heroine loved them to the point of getting herself in circle of debts. However despite her cravings and problems, you fell in love with her and you are crossing fingers for her to get out of the debts and to have all those pretty things which she liked. I enjoyed this book a lot. "
— Matimate, 1/26/2014" Loved the book as well as the movie!!! "
— Nilima, 1/24/2014" This is the microwave popcorn of books for me - easy, tasty, I can finish it off in one sitting... but I'm hungry again a couple hours later. It's no Bridget Jones, but as far as chicklit goes, it's enjoyable and fun. Becky is a funny character, and I can sadly relate to her elaborate daydreams. However, the ludicrous situations she gets into are a bit too much over the top, and give me quite a bit of second-hand embarrassment! "
— Alena, 1/24/2014" Light reading...ending was nice, not sure if I want to keep reading this series, but will consider. "
— Janine, 1/23/2014" Very amusing....perfect if you are looking for mind candy "

— Gian, 7/5/2013" I hate to admit how well I can relate to the character in this book. She, of course, is much more extreme than I ever was. While not likely to become a literary classic, it was a fun read. "

— Cashie, 9/9/2011" Pretty mindless reading, but entertaining none the less. I needed something light and fluffy after having just finished "Shutter Island." This certainly fit the bill. "

— Allyson, 5/18/2011" I'm not sure if it was this book that I enjoyed or if it was the fact that it was read to me and some of my room mates as a bed time story. Very enjoyable, funny, honest book. We laughed out loud with every chapter. "
— Alexandria, 5/17/2011" Funny, but does the girl EVER LEARN?? That got really annoying. "
