"My favorite of the Rogue series. Darius and Mara had a friendship that truly escalated to more. Dare has been returned to his family after his Waterloo abduction and forced addiction to opium. Mara is experiencing London for the first time and she is living up to her true heritage of the "devil hair" that she and Hr brother Simon share! Trouble brings her to Dare's door and the two find a friendship and eventually love. Mara helps Dare through his addiction and it makes their bond deeper. Of course, Mara's trouble finds her again and they enlist the help of the Rogues. Bringing the series to conclusion, the haunts of Therese Belaire has finally come to a close when the final Rogue is rescued."

" This is one of two romance novels that I've read that center around withdrawal from Opium. I believe the other was Jade Lee's Tempted Tigress. I'm not entirely certain that it's the best basis for a romance novel. "
— Cameron, 2/14/2014" Finally back to a book I really enjoy. I liked Dare. The suffering he went through and then being found by his family again was good for me. I enjoyed his struggle to overcome his addiction. He has a good heart and a very strong will. Lady Mara is just as stubborn with a big heart. I enjoyed this book much more than some of the previous ones. "
— ♆, 2/10/2014" Fierce woman saves her opium-addicted love. Enjoyed this regency romance that was serious enough to be interesting but light enough to be fun. "
— Siobhan, 2/2/2014" eh. not my favorite. "
— Michelle, 12/31/2013" from my notes after I read it: "I love Jo Beverley's writing so much. I really care about her characters. Excellent interaction between the Rogues in this book (Not my favorite one, Lucien, but that's ok.)" "
— Chris, 12/5/2013" Great! Maybe I'll read the other Rogues! "
— Ally, 12/5/2013" The hero's struggle with opium addiction was very well described, in my opinion, but the heroine was too young for the hero and too full of herself to be appealing. "
— Ilze, 11/30/2013" Wow! A story of resilience. The H struggles thru overcoming his addition to opium due to war injuries. He wants to be a better man for the h (sigh). The h has always loved the H & is insistent on staying by the H's side no matter what. This is a special book! "
— JLC, 11/25/2013" Really more 2 1/2 stars but there was more time in Canada than I wanted. Strange eh, for someone who used to live in Toronto but there you go. I prefer my Rogue books set in the United Kingdom I suppose. A charming couple. "
— Janet, 10/16/2013" Mara was just too immature to appeal to me as a heroine. "
— Jackie, 7/8/2013" Another trashy romance novel. Some fun parts, like the two main characters outlining a new book, but I kind of got tired of it. Time to move on to another genre for a while. "
— Natalie, 6/7/2013" According to Jo Beverley's website To Rescue A Rogue follows The Rogue's Return which follows Skylark. "
— Robin, 3/23/2013" one of my favorite heroes and my favorite in the series. "
— Julee, 1/3/2013" Meh. I didn't read the whole series, so I don't know how this book ties up the loose pieces, but as a stand-alone, meh. "
— Diana, 9/25/2012" This one is harder given Dare's struggle. And Mara seems so flighty in the beginning. Jo B. works it out, tho, in the end of course! "
— Mary, 8/14/2012" As far as romances go, it's not my favorite. It wasn't bad, but was generally mild. One thing that really got old was how many times the author made reference to the girl's hair. "
— Lisha, 6/13/2012" Surprizeingly good. The fact that the hero is addicted to morphine is well writen and very belivable. The heroine is smart and learns from her mistakes. Also she acts like a 18 year old. "
— Betty, 11/15/2011" This is my favourite Jo Beverley so far (It's my third). I loved Mara and Dare and loved their conversations together. This was a perfect sick day/rainy day book. "
— Lisa, 10/17/2011" Melodramatic romance story. I only listened to it because I couldn't find anything read by Simon Prebble that I hadn't already listened to. "
— Missmath144, 7/22/2011" how do you save the man you love when he is a vet and an addict? this book has a lot of heart and i respect the authors approach to both the characters and the plot as well as their emotional struggle. jo beverley is always a great author to read. "
— Krissy, 6/8/2011" one of my favorite heroes and my favorite in the series. "
