"This was a great read! Though I am very familiar with the story of Anne Boleyn, I felt this was a refreshing retelling of a well known story through the eyes of a close friend and supporter of the queen. I like Meg wyatt's character, she is a staunch supporter and true friend to Anne throughout her life, and shows the queen as a victim ( which I believe she was to some degree). Very well written, and interesting! Not the same blah, blah, blah that many others have attempted with Anne's story. I will definitely check out some more of Sandra Byrd's books in the future! Well done!"

" I didn't care for this book very much at all. I disliked Meg as the narrator. She seemed weak and ordinary and unlike anyone I would image Anne Boleyn giving the time of day to.i also didn't notice her maturing through out the story. At the beginning she was seventeen and at the end she was in her thirties, but I hardley noticed a maturing in her personality at all. Also, I disliked Anne herself. I understand how this author took a positive viewpoint of Anne, but she made her a dull, unexciting version of herself. I prefer Anne Boleyn to be sharp and feisty and exciting and enticing and this book gave her none of those characteristics. I did, however, enjoy the occasional use of direct quotes from Anne's life in the dialogue. For the most part, however, I just felt disappointed. "
— Meghan, 2/5/2014" Anne's story is told throuh the eyes of her good friend Meg Wyatt, sister of Thomas Wyatt rumored to have had carnal knowledge of the queen. Nice moving piecce of historic fiction. "
— Chelly, 1/7/2014" Interesting take on Anne Boleyn. She came off a little sweeter than most other stories portray her. Not sure how many historical liberties were taken with this one, but a good story. "
— Heather, 1/2/2014" I learned more about the dress and customs of the time, plus was reminded of the intrigue of this court and this amoral man. "
— Diane, 11/24/2013" This was actually a great book, I have this strange fascination with Anne Boleyn and it was interesting to see a book about Anne's rise and fall through the eyes of a friend. Definitely a great book. "
— Lizbett, 9/22/2013" Little heavy on the preaching. I hated the overuse of the words mayhap and certs. Thought the writing style fluctuated too much. However, it was an interesting take on Anne Boleyn's life and death though. "
— golightly23, 3/24/2013" A nicer view of Anne Boleyn. Also enjoyed the character relating the story, one of her Ladies in Waiting. Very well written! "
— Jan, 3/23/2013" very interesting to read this from a different perspective. really helped to have read about Anne Boleyn before. "
— Lori, 6/6/2012" A terrific read. One gets swept away inside this story with mood and detail unmatched. I thought I couldn't learn anything more about Anne Boleyn but Sandra changed my mind! "
— Jane, 12/18/2011" Try counting how many times the author uses the word "mayhap." The premise of telling Anne's story through the Wyatts appealed to me, but none of the characters other than Meg felt three dimensional, with Anne being relegated to the Protestant pedestal. Sigh. "
— Nisha, 9/24/2011" As a fan of this era, I loved the story. "
— Lisa, 8/28/2011" I loved this vision of Anne Boleyn, but I loved even more the character of Meg, who stands by her friend through the best and worst times of her life. A fresh look at the Tudor court, the Reformation in England, and Anne Boleyn herself. This is a good one. "
