Watchmaker Hermux Tantamoq is a hardworking mouse who is thankful for ordinary things: donuts, coffee, peaceful evenings at home with his pet ladybug. But his quiet life takes a dramatic turn when Ms. Linka Perflinger, dashing daredevil aviatrix and adventuress, bursts into his watch shop, drops off a broken watch, and steals his heart.

Hermux can't wait to see Ms. Perflinger again, but she doesn't return. Instead, a shady-looking rat comes in and damands her watch. Fearing something is amiss, Hermux follows the rat, and soon finds himself in the middle of a dangerous web of deception and intrigue.

What has happened to Ms. Perflinger? Who is this mysterious Dr. Mennus he keeps hearing about, and how is he connected with Hermux's eccentric neighbor, cosmetics tycoon Tucka Mertslin? Hermux's life is suddenly full of twists and turns and is anything but ordinary.

He must be daring. He must be vigilant. And he doesn't know how. But as sure as corn is sweet and cheese goes moldy in the rain, Hermux must rescue Ms. Perflinger and, in the process, find out just what kind of mouse he really is. Download and start listening now!

" This was a cute young adult book/older children's book that was fun to read. The author is very creative and the details of the book were great. Matt and I read it together. Reading it out loud was a bit tricky because the names of the characters are pretty crazy (example: Hermux Tantamoq). The main character is a middle aged mouse who loves to eat, just like me! "

" FANTASY FICTION. I thought it was an adorable book. If you liked The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo or Secrets at Sea by Richard Peck, I highly recommend this book to you. Of course, you have to buy animals as main characters. If you do, read away. Approximately 272 pages. Book #1 in the Hermux Tantamoq Adventures series. "

    " A fun little book about a mouse and doughnuts. :) "

" Hermux comes off as a bit proper initially, but the trait becomes endearing somewhere in pages 30-50, when the mystery picks up. It all starts when an alluring customer drops off a watch for repair at Hermux's shop. She's an aviator/adventuress and emphasizes that her watch must keep perfect time, it could be a matter of life and death. She never returns to pick up her watch. As he begins to wonder about her disappearance, he uncovers a quest to discover the fountain of youth, for mice of course. Hermux has many colorful characters to aid and sometimes distract him as he unravels the puzzle, such as his neighbor, the queen of a cosmetics empire, a curious/nosy reporter, and his pet ladybug. "

" Hermux has a watch shop and has attention to mechanical detail, but perhaps not enough detail to others. He thinks that he can help Linka who has not come to pick up her watch and that winds up into trouble. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jodi | 12/20/2013

" Fun story and interesting mystery, however the over the top crazy names and long lists that added little to the story made it difficult to read sometimes. "

" My teen daughter loved this book so much that she read it three times (or more) and made me read it too. It's cute but I really don't understand what it is that appeals to her so much. The adventure? The characters? It's about a mouse watch maker who solves mysteries along with a dashing lady mouse. "

" A charming story about a mouse watchmaker, with a pet ladybug. An aviatrix mouse, Miss Linka Perflinger, sweeps into his shop one day to leave off her watch, in need of repair; this leads Hermux into adventures of which he's never dreamed. "
