Publisher Description

This second book, THE SANDS OF TIME continues the adventures of Hermux Tantamoq, mouse and watchmaker in the imaginary city of Pinchester. When the museum announces a show of Mirrin Stentrill's latest paintings - monumental, visionary portraits of cats - Mayor Hooster Pinkwiggin vows to shut it down. Cats are a touchy subject amoung Pinchester's mostly small-rodent population. Complications arise when a mysterious chipmunk named Birch Tentintrotter claims to have a map to the royal library of an ancient kingdom of cats. When Birch recruits Hermux to help him find the library, they discover they're not the only ones looking for it.

"The Hermux Tantamoq series are wonderful! I think I read them when I was around 11, although they are probably ideal for ages 13 or so. Set in a make-believe town inhabited by mice and terrorized by cats, there is never a dull moment. The writing is great because though it's geared toward children, it's slightly advanced and encourages learning because the story is so enchanting. One of my favorite bits was the fact that the main character has a best friend who is blind, and I think that added an unexpected and intriguing element to the story."

" I read this book in the sixth grade. Now, its kind of hard to remember. But all I can tell you that it is a mystery and is about mice. It was really hard to catch onto. At first, it didn't even sound like a myastery. Overall, it was alright but I woun't remamend it. "
