Joseph Rudyard Kipling (December 30, 1865 - January 18, 1936) was an English novelist, writer, and journalist. He was born in British India, which inspired much of his work. Kipling's works of fiction include the The Jungle Book, 1894; The Second Jungle Book, 1895, Kim, 1901, as well as, many well-known short stories and poems. The three poems include "Sussex," read by Stanley Morrison; "If," by GH Hendricksen; and "Gunga Din" by Paul Lahnerd.

About Rudyard Kipling

Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) was born of English parents in Bombay, India. At seventeen, he began work as a journalist and over the next seven years established an international reputation with his stories and verses of Indian and army life, including such classics as The Jungle Book and Kim. In 1907 he became the first English writer to receive the Nobel Prize.
