Taking place a generation after The Talismans of Shannara, The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Ilse Witch opens with the discovery of a body. Only two people understand its significance: Walker Boh, the last of the Druids and a familiar character to Shannara fans, and the Ilse Witch, a beautiful but dark young woman who wields a potent magic. Thus begins the voyage of the Jerle Shannara in a race to uncover the mystery, which of course includes an unusual cast of characters: an Elven prince; a monstrous creature who is part man, part enigma; and a young man who may unknowingly hold the key to the success of the mission. For he is the only one who can call upon that ancient talisman, the Sword of Shannara.

For the legions of fans who've been captivated since the very first Shannara novel, this eagerly anticipated new chapter in Terry Brooks' signature series will be reason to celebrate. The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Ilse Witch offers an intriguing invitation to plunge again into the enthralling world of the best-selling Shannara adventures. Download and start listening now!

" Good book, but at this point the Shannara books tend to be repetitive. I do like the twist with the Running with the Demon series, as well Genesis. "

" My dad gave me a signed copy! Sadly enough I sold it when times got tough... But I didn't like this one much and It took me a while to finish it as I kept stopping to read other books. "

" My fantasy expertise and general knowledge isn't that widespread, but when I picked up ISLE WITCH, for the first time I got 15 pages into it and stopped. The second time I attempted to read it, I got a grand total of 40 pages into it, so prospects for actually getting involved in this book were slim to none. The third and final time I attempted to read ISLE WITCH, I devoured it from cover to cover. Sadly, I have yet to read any more of the series, though I will eventually. "

" I had not read a Terry Brooks novel in 15 years when I picked up Ilse Witch and was pleased to find that his writing has improved over the years and that he is no longer trying to imitate Tolkien. The plot is basically a quest to gather plot coupons, but it is an entertaining Fantasy novel and I enjoyed the flying ship full of Gypsyish Rovers. "

" Very fun, but perhaps not quite as memorable for me as some of Brook's books. "

" A great continuation of the Shannara books with a new spin too it. Very interesting. If your not interested in fantasy I don't think that you will like this series. This series so far is a bit different (in a good way) from his first book he wrote in high school (the sword of shannara). "

" A good blending of magic and modern science. This is a great shift into how the old world "our modern world" interacts with our favorite heros. The war between free-born and federation is still used to create conflict, but magic vs. the ancient world is enough to make this series a good read. "

" Another good series from Terry Brooks. These are quite different in plot from the other Shannara books up to this point. I was really surprised. At this point, it seems that Terry Brooks is starting to target his books more at adults instead of young adults. "

" First book I read of any of the Shannara series and loved it. It is about a brother and sister separated when they were young. Both posses magical powers and end up of different sides of the on going war. Once you read one you will read the next 2 and so on. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Indeneri | 11/4/2012

" This book is really boring. I know Brooks plot is is signature (it never changes), so I was prepared for the whole 'druid turns up out of the blue etc etc'. but the storytelling is monotonous, the characters are boring and the whole thing drags on and on. "

" Starts off strong, but then flops. Introduced a lot of characters which don't last very long through the rest of the trilogy, with a few notable exceptions, and the whole "flying ships" business is still a little strange to me.... "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Kristy | 9/19/2011

" My only complaint is that I wasn't aware you must have all three of the trilogy. Each individual story is not complete. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Allison | 3/15/2011

" Again the first book is more of an intro to the series and like all "voyage" books their motivation for the journey is pretty weak. Plus, it ends in a terrible cliffhanger and now I have to wait until the next book in the series is available from the library! "
