Dynamic Romanian multi-millionaire Nicolae Carpathia's sphere of influence steadily grows as he parlays his looks, charm, charisma, and intellectual brilliance into success in business and politics. But is it mere coincidence that those who oppose or offend or even slight him suffer to the point of death?

Pan-Con Airlines captain Rayford Steele has settled into an uneasy truce with his wife while worrying that he has already ascended as far as he can in his career. But when he is tapped for consultation by the CIA and the Defense Department, his star begins to rise as well.

Cameron Williams becomes a celebrated journalist, his career skyrocketing from an Ivy League education to newspaper reporter, then columnist, then magazine feature writer.

Three lives inexorably destined to intersect at the most pivotal moment in the history of mankind.

Listener Opinions

" Liked this better than the first books in the series - this book especially about difference between being saved vs. being a churchgoer - a must read for anyone who has doubts about their relationship with Jesus "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Ashley | 2/10/2014

" This is the second prequel of the "Left Behind" series. It was better than the first prequel. There was a lot more action. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Kimberly | 1/25/2014

" Continues the story in the prequel to the Left Behind series giving even more background to characters. A fast pasted quick read, as long as you don't read just a few pages at a time during a break like I did. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Squishysandee | 1/17/2014

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Bonny | 10/22/2013

" I really liked the left behind series, but I did not really like this book. It is a prequel of happenings before they were left behind in the rapture. I read it years after reading the series and I don't think it contributed anything new. I didn't relate to the characters. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Bonnie | 8/2/2013

" If I had read any of the "Left Behind" books before this one, I might have enjoyed it. As it was, this book was a miserable failure in my opinion. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 VWrulesChick | 6/30/2013

" This is another series with the Left Behind series although it is only 3 books in this series. It focuses on the beginnings of Nicholae and his early years before he comes into the Left Behind (12 book series) I guess a pre-quel to the Left Behind although it was written afterwards. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Melinda | 3/15/2013

" This one keeps giving you more information to give you a sense of who the main characters are. Very good. "

" I like the idea of the book and the characters, but I do not like the style of writing; It felt like watching a movie rather than reading a book. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Dawn | 2/23/2012

" This is part 2 to a three book series that is amazing. I read the 12 book series of Left Behind and these three books really give you a closer look at the characters beginning. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Linda Shumway | 6/4/2011

" Have read the 'regular' series and am enjoying the expanded view of the characters in these 'prequil' books. I kept wanting to say "wake up stupid, you're going to be left behind". Hindsight is so sharp whether it's in a book or life. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Sheila | 4/18/2011

" One of the few series of books both my wife and I have read are the Left Behind series. Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye created characters that I wanted to follow. The story is important to me from a faith standpoint, and the writing makes it accessible to all. "

It is interesting to watch Rayford, Cameron and Nicolae grow up, though these books can never compare to the original series.
