Publisher Description

The sequel to Kate Locke's spectacular Immortal Empire series that began in God Save the Queen.

Xandra Vardan is the newly crowned Goblin Queen of England. But her complicated life is by no means over.

There are the political factions vying for her favor, and the all-too-close scrutiny of Queen Victoria, who wants her head. Not to mention her werewolf boyfriend has demands of his own, and her mother is hell-bent on destroying the monarchy. Now she's the main suspect in a murder investigation -- and Xandra barely knows which way is up.

What she does know is that nothing lasts forever -- and immortality isn't all its cracked up to be.

"I LOVE the relationship between Alexandra (Xandy) and Vex. It doesn't matter to Vex what she is - he loves her for who she is. They work together, in partnership, trusting each other and supporting each other. To me Vex captures what an alpha male should be - strong, sexy and protective without being overbearing or controlling. He wants to protect Xandy but he doesn't try to control her - he works with her and respects her abilities. The age difference between them isn't an issue as Vex's experience in life allows him to understand Xandy and be patient with her natural youthful insecurities. He never uses his experience to tell her what to do or act like he knows better than her. He does use it to tell it to her straight when she needs it but never in a way that talks down to her. Awesome. I also like Xandy as a heroine. She is strong and loyal and impulsive and cranky. She is strong and likeable and flawed without being irritatingly perfect or frustratingly stupid ( 2 things you have to watch out for in a heroine)enough that you want her to always come out on top . I love her loyalty to her family, and that this loyalty isn't blind. Her dismissal of her mother's demands made me cheer."

" I am so glad that Long Live The Queen is due out the end of October. Locke's plagued, twisty world is such a fun place to get lost. The books fly by so fast that I am done too soon, and wishing I were just starting. I am especially glad that she has not followed the madding crowd and added a love triangle. Her books do not need such devices to hold the reader's interest. The Queen is dead; long live Queen Xandra! "

" This was very good. Lots of action. Xandra finally stops running/denying who/what she is. Family relationships are changed (for the better- well most of them). The big question we still don't know- who is behind the secret experiments? Great secondary characters. Next one please! "

About Kate Locke

Kate Locke is a shameless Anglophile who wrote her first book at age twelve. Fortunately, that book about a British pop band is lost forever. During “off” hours Kate often screeches along to Rock Band (being a rock star was her second career choice if the writing thing didn’t work out), watches BBC America, or plays with makeup. She loves history, the paranormal, horror, and sparkly things.

About Moira Quirk

Moira Quirk, a British actress and Earphones Award–winning narrator, co-narrated Ben Bova’s Mercury and has narrated other popular audiobooks for which she received Audie Award nominations. She is a successful comedian and can be heard on Nickelodeon’s cartoon My Life as a Teenage Robot as well as in The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd, The Wild Thornberrys Feature, and Serendipity, among others. She has also lent her voice to several video games, including Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction and Haunting Ground.
