When her brother Val gets in over his head in an investigation of half-blood disappearances and goes missing himself, it’s up to Xandra, newly crowned Goblin Queen, to get him back and bring the atrocities to light. Xandra must frequent the seediest parts of London while also coping with what she is, the political factions vying for her favor, and the all too close scrutiny of Queen Victoria, who wants her head. Add this to a being a suspect in a murder investigation, a werewolf boyfriend with demands of his own, and a mother hell-bent on destroying the monarchy, and Xandra barely knows which way is up. One thing she does know is that she’s already lost one sibling, and she’s not about to lose another.

Nothing lasts forever—and immortality isn’t all its cracked up to be.

" I am so glad that Long Live The Queen is due out the end of October. Locke's plagued, twisty world is such a fun place to get lost. The books fly by so fast that I am done too soon, and wishing I were just starting. I am especially glad that she has not followed the madding crowd and added a love triangle. Her books do not need such devices to hold the reader's interest. The Queen is dead; long live Queen Xandra! "

" Xandra is awesome and Vex is the perfect BF. Can't wait to read more. "

" I LOVE the relationship between Alexandra (Xandy) and Vex. It doesn't matter to Vex what she is - he loves her for who she is. They work together, in partnership, trusting each other and supporting each other. To me Vex captures what an alpha male should be - strong, sexy and protective without being overbearing or controlling. He wants to protect Xandy but he doesn't try to control her - he works with her and respects her abilities. The age difference between them isn't an issue as Vex's experience in life allows him to understand Xandy and be patient with her natural youthful insecurities. He never uses his experience to tell her what to do or act like he knows better than her. He does use it to tell it to her straight when she needs it but never in a way that talks down to her. Awesome. I also like Xandy as a heroine. She is strong and loyal and impulsive and cranky. She is strong and likeable and flawed without being irritatingly perfect or frustratingly stupid ( 2 things you have to watch out for in a heroine)enough that you want her to always come out on top . I love her loyalty to her family, and that this loyalty isn't blind. Her dismissal of her mother's demands made me cheer. "

About the Author

Kate Locke is a shameless Anglophile who wrote her first book at age twelve. Fortunately, that book about a British pop band is lost forever. During “off” hours Kate often screeches along to Rock Band (being a rock star was her second career choice if the writing thing didn’t work out), watches BBC America, or plays with makeup. She loves history, the paranormal, horror, and sparkly things.
