"I recently read this book and I've often wondered why Sidney Sheldon with all his talent has chosen to write thrillers; he could have written novels with his analytical style. I yet learned after reading this book how society can be harsh and give great talents no choice but to write what sells more and not what they really wish to write. I think Sidney Sheldon was great;Master of the Game, Sands of Time, Memoreis of Midnight could stand for good wroks of art; they're so much more than thrillers and The other Side of Me is a living proof to that. It's just the tough Holywood struggle to survive that made him perform less than what he could have given and the time he spent writing books instead of movie scripts was short but according to his own words, were the happiest. A significant book to read and hopefully it changes the rigid system imposed upon people of talent."

“Not even a fiction writer as gifted as Sidney Sheldon would have the chutzpah to concoct the story of Sidney Sheldon’s life. His autobiography, The Other Side of Me, blasts off from the first sentence with narrative drive that is all surprise, reverberating with plot twists of ecstasy and despair.”
— New York Times“A master storyteller tells all.”
— Barnes & Noble, editorial review“Sheldon writes his memoir as an intense and emotional rollercoaster as only he can with battling bipolar disorder nearly his entire life. From his suicide attempt at age 17 in 1934 to the publication of his first book in 1969, Sheldon has worked hard for his accomplishments.”
— Publishers Weekly“Sidney Sheldon, playwright, Oscar-winning screenwriter, and bestselling novelist, has written a glossy, gossipy, candid show-biz memoirsome hilarious moments, some very personal, as well as some shocking interactions with movie stars like Judy Garland, Groucho Marx, and a surprisingly combative Cary Grant.”
— AudioFile" Listened to audio: Sidney Sheldon is my favorite mystery writer. He also wrote some TV & Broadway hits. His story is of persistance and triumph. Tells of how he went from wanting to commit siucide to become a famous writer, director and producer. How he overcomes being bi-polar, losing 2 children and failure. He was in the World Book of Records for having a book with the most translations, The Other Side of Midnight which is my favorite book by him. "
