"Dickens' writing is such a pleasure to read. He uses interesting phases an the change in word usage from his time to ours is fascinating. The storyline is good but at times Dickens' social commenting is toilsome. Even so, I have enjoyed every Dickens novel that I have read."

" I really enjoyed this "old" classic. Read it on Kindle so vocabulary was easy to keep up with. But in most cases, my gut feeling on a word was correct. "

" Another great Old Style read...but then, I haven't met a Dickens' book I didn't love - oh, wait! There was that book he didn't finish before he died, and then someone decided they should screw it up and try to make us think, "Oh, yeah, this sounds like Dickens!" Not! "

" Overall, I liked this book but like many others who have read it, found it slow and difficult to get into. The characters were fun and I really came to hate Quilp. The ending related to Nell was abrupt and very sad. "

" This is the second book by Dickens that I have read, and although less well known, is a very good story. There were a few times in this story that I felt dragged on a bit, but not distractingly so. Overall a wonderful read. "

" I don't know what to say about this book. It was boring as hell. A real slow page turner. I still got 3 or 4 more dickens books to read. I hope they don't turn out to be like this one. "

" Mr Dickens does it again. This man is truly a master of characterisation. By the end of the story, I felt I knew the characters so well that I could invite them to dinner and predict what they would do and say. It was a pleasure to immerse myself in this book. "

" The story was great, the characters loveable or truly villainous. However saying that this story was the toughest to say with out of the entire Dickens I have read or reread in the last year. A bit too Dickens so it is predictable and didn’t have the clever twist in it. "
